Discord Nitro gets Xbox Game Pass with unique rewards: Is it finally worth it?

We have all experienced this before. A friend gives you a Nitro gift, and you claim it, use 20 minutes crafting your own emoji pack, and let it expire after three months, asking yourself what exactly it was that you had paid for. From the start, Nitro has never been an easy sell; it was a paid subscription that offered you the same thing as the free version, but just more of it. This is not the case anymore.

Discord recently unveiled Nitro Rewards, a brand-new benefits program where players can get some serious gaming rewards by simply subscribing to Nitro, without paying any additional money. The best thing about it is Xbox Game Pass, which features over 50 downloadable games for both console and PC users. You will also receive 30% discount on Logitech G, 15% discount on SteelSeries products, and 20% discount on KontrolFreek accessories. If you are currently earning Orbs through Quests, you will get an additional 250 Orbs every month as well.

This is, unambiguously, the most interesting Nitro has ever looked.

And then there’s the game pass component. The starting package will give you access to an ever-changing game library, including Fallout 4, Stardew Valley, Deep Rock Galactic, Grounded, Overcooked 2, along with 10 hours of cloud gaming. It’s not the ultimate version of Game Pass, but hey – it’s absolutely free on top of the subscription that you probably already have.

The hardware discounts are also a great plus point if you’ve been looking at some SteelSeries headsets or Logitech mice recently. The thing is, these aren’t random products that Discord came up with – it’s precisely the hardware that gamers usually use.

Does Discord Nitro become essential? That would depend on how much you’ve been circling the Game Pass ecosystem before. But one thing is certain – Discord is finally building a case for Nitro outside its own platform, which is exactly what it had to do.
