Best monitors under Rs 14,000 for graphic designers

A friend who works as a graphic designer recently asked me to help him pick a monitor. His budget was under Rs 14,000. He needed something he could actually work on, not just browse the web, and so I did the research accordingly. I went through listings on Amazon and Flipkart and shortlisted some models. Since his work involves colour-sensitive material, I filtered primarily for panel type (IPS over VA, for consistent colour across viewing angles), resolution (1440p over 1080p on a 27-inch screen, since pixel density matters for fine design work), and colour accuracy, including gamut coverage and factory calibration where available. Colour depth and contrast ratio also played a role in the final call.

The monitors below are ranked from lowest to highest price, so it becomes easy for you to pick a model that fits your bill.

LG 27U631A

Price: Rs 11,599

This LG monitor flaunts a 23.8-inch QHD (2560×1440) IPS panel running at 100Hz with a 5ms GtG response time. It covers 99% sRGB and supports HDR10. For connectivity, it includes both HDMI and a USB-C port with 15W power delivery, meaning the user can connect and charge his/her smartphone, tablet, or low-power peripherals with a single cable. It also features very thin side bezels that could matter in multi-monitor setups. Usability features include Reader Mode and Flicker Safe for extended work sessions.

The contrast ratio is 1000:1, and the brightness is 250 nits. It has no DisplayPort, no factory calibration guarantee, and a standard 8-bit colour depth without FRC.

Dell SE2726D

Price: Rs 12,999

Dell has equipped its monitor with a 27-inch QHD (2560×1440) IPS panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, a 1500:1 contrast ratio, and 300 nits brightness.

The colour coverage is 99% sRGB with 16.7 million colours via a standard 8-bit panel. The Dell monitor supports AMD FreeSync, and its connectivity options include one HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4. An HDMI 2.0 cable is bundled in the box. It also brings usability aids like Eye Comfort Technology, low-blue-light protection, and a flicker-free feature, alongside a three-year warranty.

MSI Pro MP275Q

Price: Rs 13,399

The MSI Pro monitor has a 27-inch QHD IPS panel running at a 100Hz refresh rate. That resolution and a pixel density of about 109 PPI make it suited for design work. Visuals and typography should look sharp on this.

Notably, it uses an 8-bit plus FRC (Frame Rate Control) colour processing setup, which effectively simulates 10-bit colour output, around 1.07 billion colours. This could mean the gradients appear smoother than on a standard 8-bit panel. The contrast ratio of 1300:1 and peak brightness of 300 nits can also be a meaningful combination for creative folks.

The gamut coverage is 100% sRGB. It connects via dual HDMI 2.0b and DisplayPort 1.2a, and includes dual 2-watt speakers. The stand supports VESA 100x100mm mounting.
