HP Pavilion m4-1003tx

Slide 1 - HP Pavilion m4-1003tx

The lid of the Pavilion m4-1003tx is exactly the same as the one on the much more expensive ENVY dv6-7206tx. The dual tone matte finish looks very good, and doesn't attract scratches like a typical glossy finish does. Click right for more images. Do also check out our HP Pavilion m4-1003tx review

This keyboard is a delight to use. Again, the same has been carried forward from the elder ENVY machine. Very precise and sharp response, with just perfect key size and spacing. Click right for more images. Do also check out our HP Pavilion m4-1003tx review

The touchpad is a disappointment though. While the real estate available is big enough for most Windows 8 related gestures, the dotted finish isn’t comfortable and the response is very inconsistent. Click right for more images. Do also check out our HP Pavilion m4-1003tx review

The critical quick access keys – Wireless connectivity, media playback etc. are integrated with the function keys. The Wireless and the Audio Mute key also have the white and red LEDs, depending on status. Click right for more images. Do also check out our HP Pavilion m4-1003tx review

The 14-inch display does well in aspects like brightness levels and text rendering. However, it is a tad reflective in nature, and that can be annoying for quite a few users. Click right for more images. Do also check out our HP Pavilion m4-1003tx review

The entire keyboard deck has a glossy finish, with the brushed metal imprint. While it looks very good, the problem can always be that such a finish tends to make dust, fingerprints and scratches a tad too visible. Click right for more images. Do also check out our HP Pavilion m4-1003tx review

The keyboard itself has a plain shiny black finish, between the keys, and that contrasts well with the rest of the deck’s design and finish. Click right for more images. Do also check out our HP Pavilion m4-1003tx review.

The HP logo below the display. The hinge itself is sufficiently taut to not have the display flapping around when you are typing furiously, for example. Click right for more images. Do also check out our HP Pavilion m4-1003tx review.

The Pavilion m4 is fairly slim, and yet packs in an optical drive. The drive itself could do with slightly better installation, and this could be a unit specific issue. Click right for more images. Do also check out our HP Pavilion m4-1003tx review

The memory card reader sits on the front part, closer to the user, on the overhang where the palmrest area finishes. Below it is one of the two speakers. Click right for more images. Do also check out our HP Pavilion m4-1003tx review.

This is the second speaker, on the other end of the hang. HP has loaded this machine with the DTH Sound+ profile, rather than Beats Audio that was a part of the ENVY dv6's package. The control panel for DTS has been given the exact same look as the one for Beats Audio. Click right for more images. Do also check out our HP Pavilion m4-1003tx review

Two USB ports, an HDMI port and the Ethernet port on the left side spine, if you are looking at the machine straight on. Click right for more images. Do also check out our HP Pavilion m4-1003tx review

A fairly generous cooling vent keeps the machine cool, even when you may be stressing it considerably. The fan remains fairly silent even under such scenarios. Click right for more images. Do also check out our HP Pavilion m4-1003tx review.

HP has shifted to an even thinner pin design for the adapter. The curve on the back gives the machine a bit of personality when the lid is closed. Click right for more images. Do also check out our HP Pavilion m4-1003tx review.

Slide 15 - HP Pavilion m4-1003tx

While the shiny part tends to give the impression that the Pavilion m4 is thinner at the front, it is just visual trickery! The thickness remains the same throughout. Click right for more images. Do also check out our HP Pavilion m4-1003tx review

The design allows for easy access to the HDD and the RAM, in case you need to change or upgrade either. Click right for more images. Do also check out our HP Pavilion m4-1003tx review

The battery pack locks in very well, and can only be removed after some effort of moving these hinges (two of them) in parallel. You've reached the end of this slideshow. Do also check out our HP Pavilion m4-1003tx review.
