The Intex iRist smartwatch was launched at MWC, Shanghai today, at a price point of Rs. 11,999. This is the company's first smartwatch, and it comes with 3G SIM support, along with 32GB expandable memory.

The watch is not running Android wear but a custom Android layout, which feels fairly smooth for a OS that is not tailored to watches, but still Android isn't meant for such small screens, and very difficult to use in this device. One good thing however is, the watch is compatible with any Android phone using the Intex iConnect app.

The iRist will come with some preloaded apps, like Runstastic and a voice assistant that has been built by Intex. In this image you can see the compass app.

The watch has 4GB of on-board storage which can be expanded further to upto 32GB via a microSD card. Since this is a standalone watch, it can take 3G SIM cards. The SIM card goes in the side, while the SD card slot is at the bottom.

The watch uses a simple traditional buckle to hold itself in place on the hand

As you can see the IRist looks and feels bulky and less premium compared to the Moto 360 and the Apple iWatch (the two watches Intex compared it too at the launch). Moreover, the iRist can’t be laid flat making a little uncomfortable to wear as well.

These are the Bluetooth headphones which come bundled with the watch. Yes, it has a wire, but that's only to wrap around your neck, not to connect to anything.
