There is a reason why the sci-fi genre is considered to be so great - it has the flexibility to take you through different worlds. Time travel, amazing creatures, inter-galactic communications and more await you in this genre. If you are looking for some of the best sci-fi movies on Amazon prime India, then here are 10 of the best options for you. Although the prices of the products mentioned in the list given below have been updated as of 19th May 2022, the list itself may have changed since it was last published due to the launch of new products in the market since then.

If there is any movie that puts Christopher Nolan on the map, then it has to be Inception. Yes, his other movies are great too, but this mind-bending sci-fi thriller had an unimaginable impact. The plot is so intricate that many of the viewers had to watch it multiple times to truly understand the story. Leonardo Di Caprio, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Cillian Murphy take you through multiple levels of dreams in criminal espionage. Amazing VFX scenes, action sequences and an intricate plotline make this one of the best Hollywood Science Fiction Movies of all times.

This third instalment of this fantasy franchise is arguably one of the best out of the eight movies from this series. It is simply because of the amazing visual effects, gripping storyline and outstanding developments in the story. While the previous two movies introduce us to the Harry Potter Universe, this one’s responsible for the darker undertones in the same. More than anything, it is the beautiful journey of Harry Potter and his developments with other new characters that make this movie so interesting.

If you are looking forward to watching a sci-fi thriller based on time travel, then this is it. More than the acting performances, it is the story that is the hero of the movie. You will be drawn into the movie in no time, and each of the twists and turns in the film will make it more and more interesting. The movie revolves around a temporary agent who is asked to go back in time and stop a bomb attack in 1975, but soon the things turn into a scenario he never expected. If you are interested in watching a brainy movie, then this is a must-watch.

When it comes to movies related to space travel, then Interstellar is one of the best out there, as it is not only visually stunning but scientifically accurate too (well, as much as it’s possible to be). Another Christopher Nolan classic, this movie stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine and Matt Damon, amongst others. In terms of the storyline, it is beautifully intricate and yet so simple. Watch the movie to find how a bunch of people look for a new planet to save the human race from extinction.

Here is the third instalment of this fantastic franchise in which Sam Witwicky and other autobots try to find the secrets of the Cybertronbian spacecraft hidden on the moon. He has to deal with the repercussions before the Decepticons can use the spacecraft for their own evil deeds. Michael Bay is back with action sequences that are so good that you will want more. If you are a fan of the franchise, then this is definitely a must-watch.

Definitely one of the best Sci-fi movies on Amazon Prime; Lucy has an amazing plot that will wake up your nerd cells for sure. It is about a woman who is given performance-enhancing drugs, and ends up with supernatural powers that improve her physical and mental abilities. Scarlet Johansson does a fantastic job in the titular role, and so does Morgan Freeman in the supporting role. It is not just the action sequences but the amazing VFX scenes that makes this movie so interesting.

The third movie in the trilogy, Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, is arguably the best of the franchise because of the amazing VFX scenes and fantastical story. The former fellowship members are now preparing for the final epic battle to destroy The One Ring. Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom and Sean Austin do an incredible job reprising their roles from the previous editions. Director Peter Jackson has weaved his magic once again by giving arguably one of his best performances in this role.

There is a reason why Gravity is considered to be one of the top sci-fi films on Amazon Prime. It has a gripping storyline, near-perfect VFX scenes that are as realistic as possible and amazing performances from the lead actors, Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. The story revolves around an outer space engineer, Dr Ryan Stone and an astronaut, Matt Kowalski, who have to face high-speed travelling debris. One of the highlights of the movie is how well it is written. It keeps you intrigued throughout, making it one of the best edge-of-the-seat thrillers.

One of the best Hindi sci-fi movies on Prime Video, 2.0, was originally made in Tamil, starring both Rajnikanth and Akshay Kumar in the lead roles. In this movie, top scientists in the country help the government fight a force beyond human understanding. This is where the new version of Chitti, the Robot, comes into play and uses his superpowers. He must fight off adversities and save humankind from an evil man whose soul is made of birds that were killed due to advanced wireless network technologies. It is definitely one of the best movies from Bollywood on the Sci-fi movies list.

In the second instalment of this incredible Sci-fi franchise, Neo, Trinity, and Morpheus try to save Keymaker from the Merovingian. However, he has to confront the Architect in order to save Zion and Keymaker. Watch this movie for the amazing storyline that takes you to an alternate universe, action sequences and good acting performances from Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne and Monica Belluci.
