Crime movies come in two major forms – those that make you root for the criminals and those that make you root for the cops. No matter which type you like, you’ll undoubtedly find the best crime movies on Zee5. Here are the top 20 crime movies that you should check out: Although the prices of the products mentioned in the list given below have been updated as of 19th May 2022, the list itself may have changed since it was last published due to the launch of new products in the market since then.

NH10 starts as a sweet story depicting a couple that’s madly in love before diving deep into the horrors of what goes on beyond the borders of Delhi. Addressing a range of social issues such as patriarchy, honour killings, and power systems, this movie is a dark and unabashed look at India’s underbelly. Fair warning – it’s not for the squeamish. The violence in the movie feels too real, to the point where it makes the audience super uncomfortable. That’s where its genius lies.

If you want to see Varun Dhawan step out of his comfort zone, then Badlapur is the right movie for you. The movie centres around an ad-exec, Raghu, whose wife and child are murdered during a robbery. Raghu transforms from a happy-go-lucky man in his twenties into a man consumed by the desire for revenge. As the movie cuts 15 years into the future, and the killer is set free from his prison in Badlapur, Raghu follows him to carry out his dark revenge fantasy, killing everyone in his path.

Tamanchey is a more light-hearted take on the crime genre, showing the story of two criminals on the run who fall in love. Babu, played by the talented Richa Chadda, is a notorious drug peddler, while her suitor, Munna, played by Nikhil Dwivedi, is a petty thief who just can’t resist her bad-girl charm. The two fall in love while figuring out ways to outsmart the police. Will they manage to build a life together, or are they doomed to fail? You’ll have to watch the movie to find out.

Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh is the sequel to one of the best Hindi crime movies, Kahaani. To be fair, the sequel does a fair job of living up to the expectations set by the first movie. With Sujoy Ghosh at the helm and Vidya Balan delivering one of her most compelling performances, this movie addresses sexual consent through different storylines. Arjun Rampal has a short role in the film as Vidya Balan’s ex-husband, and his story also sheds light on a pervasive form of rape. Watch this movie to know what we’re talking about!

A take on the Godfather trilogy, Sarkar 3 should certainly feature on your list of crime movies on Zee5. As the final instalment of the trilogy, this movie follows the consequences of Sarkar refusing to work with a real-estate shark. Amitabh Bachchan delivers the level of performance one has come to expect from the veteran actor, while Ronit Roy, Jackie Shroff, and Manoj Bajpayee excel in their roles too. While many believe that this movie isn’t a patch on its predecessors, it’s still a must-watch for those who want to see Nagre’s journey till the end.

If you’re looking for a cops-and-robbers tale that plants you firmly on the side of the law, then Commando 2 is a great option to explore. Starring Vidyut Jammwal, Commando 2 is an action-packed movie that has the audience following a black money trail that leads to the nemesis, Vicky Chadda. The story has a few twists and turns to keep you guessing what’s going to happen next so that you can expect a fun ride from this film, for sure.

Starring the late Sridevi, Mom is a story that depicts the length a mother will go to protect her child. After four men sexually assault her daughter at a party, Devki Sabarwal (the protagonist) sets out on a journey of revenge and crime to destroy the perpetrators. Sridevi won a National Award for her role in this film and nominations for ‘Best Actress’ at leading awards ceremonies. The movie’s score does a great job of pulling you into the world of the film, making you feel angry, righteous and ready for revenge.

Omerta is a crime film that takes you into the psyche of a terrorist, Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, who was known for kidnapping and murdering Daniel Pearl (a Wall Street reporter) in 2002. What makes this movie thrilling to watch is the fact that it shows the way a terrorist thinks and why his actions feel not only justified but also important for humanity in his eyes. Raj Kumar Rao plays the lead role and, as expected from the actor, delivers a fantastic performance. You simply cannot tear your eyes away from the screen even as you hate the character with all your might.

Starring Arjun Rampal, Nail Polish is a gritty crime and legal thriller that explores sexual violence and brings a fresh perspective to the legal proceedings. When an open-and-shut case turns into a murky one with too many psychological elements that may just let the criminals off the hook, it makes the audience question how we identify who pays for a crime and how much. Manav Kaul has a supporting role in the film and has been lauded for his performance by critics and fans alike.

Taish chronicles the story of childhood best friends who, whilst attending a wedding, encounter a former nemesis. As rage sparks between them, an incidence of violence occurs, pulling all the characters into a life of crime and revenge. The dark cinematography of the film lets you immerse yourself fully in the gritty world of violence, while flashback shots, lit beautifully, create a stark contrast between who the characters once were. The film stars Pulkit Samrat, Harshvardhan Rane, Jim Sarbh, and Sanjeeda Sheikh.

The Power stars Vidyut Jammwal as Devi, the son of an underworld crime boss who draws the line at the drug trade. He falls in love with his father’s lieutenant’s daughter, Pari, played by Shruti Hassan. When an act of violence impacts Pari’s life (no, she doesn’t die), Devi steps in to seek revenge and wreak havoc all over the underworld. Interestingly, this is a crime film that highlights the pointlessness of repeated violence, making it an interesting watch, which is why it made it to our crime movies list.

Chakravyuh is one of the best crime movies on Zee5 India as it shows how the truth is often murkier than lies. Starring Arjun Rampal, this movie follows the protagonist, Kabir, who infiltrates a Naxal group at his friend’s request and then begins sympathising with the Naxal group. The movie is an interesting take on how every story has two sides, and while it does not glorify the Naxal movement, it does try to shed light on its ideologies. It’s a brave story to tell.

Starring Sunny Deol, Blank is an interesting approach to a film about terrorism. When a suicide bomber named Hanif lands in Mumbai to execute 24 bomb blasts, he ends up in an accident, only to be discovered by cops. As his bomb is attached to his heart, and there’s no way to diffuse it, the cops must fight time and his retrograde amnesia to uncover the remaining 24 bombs in the city. Will they be able to do it? The suspense levels are high in the film, with no one sure about whether the man is lying about his amnesia. That’s what makes this one of the best crime movies on Zee5.

Court Martial is based on an award-winning play by Bikram Roy and chronicles the journey of a sharp-minded lawyer as he tries to uncover why a junior officer in the army murdered his superior. What’s interesting about this film is that right off the bat, the army officer confesses to his crime – so it’s not a whodunnit approach at all. Instead, it tries to delve deep into the human psyche to understand what would compel a human being to kill another. That’s why this is one of the top crime movies on Zee 5.

Generation Wolf is one of those Hollywood crime movies that goes beyond the crime and tries to answer why someone would choose such a life. The movie shows the story of an entrepreneur who, after facing a ton of hardships and almost losing his business, ends up in the drug trade. As he grows and sells marijuana and becomes more influential in his circle, the consequences of a life of crime begin to catch up with him. Will he end up losing his business by the end of the film? Watch it to find out.

Hacked is a Hindi crime movie that is rather terrifying. It shows the story of a 19-year-old hacker who falls in love with an older woman who’s simply not interested. The hacker first tries to win her attention by hacking company data and “helping” her with her career, but once she clarifies that she doesn’t want anything to do with him, he ruins her life by hacking into her emails, socials, and more. As her private information is shared with strangers, the protagonist must find a way to defeat this creep once and for fall.

Commando 3 is the third instalment in the crime-action franchise, Commando. Starring Vidyut Jammwal, this movie is about stopping a terrorist from attacking India and inciting a civil war right in the nick of time. Like all the movies in this franchise, this one is fast-paced, action-packed, and fun to watch. It’s a popcorn thriller that you’ll enjoy with your friends and family when you don’t want to invest too many emotions in a movie.

Mulk shows what happens to the families of criminals once they have been convicted of a crime. When their youngest son tries to unleash a terrorist attack in the city, a Muslim family is labelled as terrorists and must fight to prove their loyalty to the country. Taapsee Pannu plays the younger daughter-in-law, who is a lawyer and fights on behalf of the family. Rishi Kapoor, who plays the patriarch, Murad Ali Mohammed, delivers a heart-warming monologue during his trial in court, along with a fantastic performance on the whole.

The Pineville Heist is a dark film about a teenager who witnesses a robbery and runs away with the cash. He goes straight to his school and tries hiding from the robbers; however, they track him down and are ready to kill him. The robbers are, right off the bat, established as bloodthirsty, ruthless people, so there’s a ton of suspense and tense energy in the film as they track down the boy to his high school. This Canadian film won awards for Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Editing.

Simmba is a coming-of-age story about a cop, set in the Rohit Shetty Cinematic Universe (or the Singham Universe, if you will). While this starts as a light-hearted comedy, a horrific crime forces Simmba (played by Ranveer Singh) to grow up. He seeks revenge on the criminals, and, of course, there’s a ton of action, comedy, and even romance awaiting you in this film.
