Motorola, Inc. was a multinational telecommunications company based in Illinois, United States. After suffering losses, the company was divided into two independent public companies, Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions on January 4, 2011. Motorola Mobility manufactures smartphones, while Motorola Solutions caters to the Enterprise segment. Motorola made its first Android smartphone in 2009, and its first Android tablet in 2011. On August 15, 2011, Google bought Motorola Mobility for around $12.5 billion, however in January 2014 , Google announced that it had sold Motorola Mobility to Lenovo for just $2.91 billion. Motorola marked its return to the Indian market in 2014, by launching the Moto G in an exclusive partnership with Flipkart.
