Vivo has launched the Vivo X30 and the X30 Pro smartphone at an event in China. The new Vivo phones come with a 50mm portrait lens, an Exynos 980 SoC, a hole-punch display, and an integrated 5G modem. The Vivo X30 smartphone has a 4,350mAh battery with 33W Flash Charge support. It supports a triple rear camera setup and a front selfie camera.
The Vivo X30 and X30 Pro come with a ‘Multi-Turbo 2.5’ mode, which automatically detects if the Wi-Fi speed is too slow and switches to 4G/ 5G network.
The Vivo X30 price starts at Rs 33,500 for the 8GB + 128GB model and at Rs 36,500 for the 8GB + 256GB model. While the Vivo X30 Pro 5G is priced starting at Rs 40,600 for the 8GB + 128GB variant and Rs 43,600 for the bigger 8GB + 256GB model. The Vivo X30 will hit the shelves on December 28th in China, while the Vivo X30 Pro 5G will hit stores on December 24th, 2019. Pre-orders for the phones are already live and Vivo is also offering a free Bluetooth headset with the handset.
The Vivo X30 phone has a 6.44-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with 16M colours and 85.3% screen-to-body ratio. The display resolution is 1080 x 2400 pixels and the pixel density of the phone is 409 ppi.
The Vivo X30 is available in Black, White, and Pink gradient finishes, and will go on sale on December 24. The phone’s dimensions are 158.5 x 74.1 x 8.8 mm and weigh 196.5 grams.
The Vivo X30 has a 64 MP main camera with f/1.8 lens, an 8 MP wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture, and a 32 MP third camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The camera comes with features like a super night scene, slow motion, 50mm portrait mode, time-lapse photography, HDR, AI beauty, filters, dynamic photos, panoramic photography, 4K video, and much more. The smartphone has a 32 MP selfie snapper (f/2.45) for selfies and video chats.
Vivo claims that the Vivo X30 series is meant for professional photography with its new camera configurations. The phone’s Super Night mode can stack 12-16 photos to reduce the noise in the dark. It also has a “Hyper HDR” mode which specializes in shooting against the sun or bright lights at night.
It runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) OS based company’s proprietary Funtouch 10.0 OS. Under the hood, the device features an Exynos 980 (8 nm) chipset with an octa-core (2x2.2 GHz Cortex-A77 & 6x1.8 GHz Cortex A55) cores. It has a Mali-G76 MP5 GPU and 8 GB of RAM. Samsung says that the new Exynos 980 processor can switch between Wi-Fi and 4G/5G networks after detecting the speeds available. It will automatically switch to a faster network.
Storage and Battery
The phone has a non-removable Li-Po 4350 mAh battery and comes with a fast battery charging 33 W. It has been launched in two variants, one with 128 GB / 8 GB RAM and the second with 256 GB / 8 GB RAM. The phone doesn’t have a microSD slot to expand its memory.
The phone supports Face Unlock and also has an in-display fingerprint sensor. Connectivity options include USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, 5G, more. It has a USB Type-C 1.0 reversible connector and USB On-The-Go for additional connectivity.
It is available in two variants one with 128 GB ROM and 8 GB RAM, and the second with 256 GB ROM and 8 GB RAM. The Vivo X30 Pro 5G runs on its proprietary Funtouch OS 10 based on Android 9.0. It is the first artificial intelligence (AI) mobile processor from the company which comes with an integrated 5G modem. The company claims that devices shipping with this processor will be capable of capable of running “multiple apps, intricate UX designs and high resolution-graphic games effortlessly” due to the integrated CPU and GPU, and be able to download content at blazing speeds with 5G. The Internal storage on the device is 128 GB and 256 GB options. Vivo X30 runs on Funtouch OS 10 based on Android 9.0.
The Samsung Exynos 980 chip is built on an 8-nanometer (nm) FinFET process technology, which reduces power consumption by containing an integrated 5G modem, claims Samsung. With integrated 5G capabilities, lead to thinner phones with powerful specifications. The 5G modem is capable of operating on 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks, while providing a gigabit downlink speed in 4G LTE and up to 2.55Gbps in sub-6-gigahertz (GHz) 5G. The 5G modem also supports E-UTRA-NR Dual Connectivity (EN-DC) that combines 2CC LTE and 5G connectivity to deliver a downlink speed of up to 3.55Gbps. The chipset supports the new Wi-Fi 6 standard, IEEE 802.11ax for lightning fast speeds and stability.
The smartphone has a volume rocker and power button on its right edge. The 3.5mm audio jack is placed on the top edge of the phone, while its bottom houses an external speaker and a USB-C. The handset sports an in-display fingerprint reader. The phone comes with an FM Radio and the phone comes with active noise cancellation with a dedicated microphone.
Sensors included in the device are a gravity sensor, a light sensor, proximity sensor, a gyroscope, and an electronic compass. It has an under display optical fingerprint sensor as well as supports Face unlock for added security and quick access.
The Vivo X30 5G 8 GB + 128 GB model is priced in China at approx. Rs 33,400 and 8 GB + 256 GB storage model is priced at Rs 36,400. The Vivo X30 Pro 5G is priced at approx. Rs 40,500 for 8 GB + 128 GB model, and Rs 43,500 approx. for the highest 8 GB + 256 GB model. The pre-orders of both the devices are now live.
