Awesome laptop best choice for gaming. Keep it up Flipkart . I got this laptop for 64k after offer and exchange with my old one.
Bought this laptop on sale. Great specs for the price. It worked fine for a few days. Then suddenly it's been randomly shutting down on battery power. No BSOD, no shutting down screen, it's as if the battery was disconnected. Unfortunately for me, this started in the 3rd week, after replacement policy ended. I have contacted Acer, they have yet to send someone to fix it. Other than that, the specs the laptop are just great and you probably read that in a lot of reviews by now; I would've rated it 5 stars, had I received a genuinely working product. I saw people talking of the heat and the workarounds such as changing the maximum processor state to 99%, you can do that but that would disable the Turbo Boost of i7 (Processor wouldn't go as fast as it can). In my case, I did see the processor going to a whopping 93 degrees, but that's just a spike that happens rarely. Keep Cool Boost ON, and use HWiNFO to see the average temp. while gaming (much better estimate, in my case 70-80 degrees in Witcher 3). Also, I know 1060 is better than 1050 Ti, but most of the AAA games are already running at 40-50 FPS, so no point spending a lot to run a game at 70-80 FPS on a 60Hz display (P.S. if you keep V-Sync on, internally the game is going to be running at 60 FPS, even though it might be rendered at 70-80 FPS) Concluding. Pros: 1. Great Specs at great pricing (obviously during sales) 2. 128 GB SSD keeps the boot time below 10s (including the time to enter your pin) 3. Some people are complaining of the display not being bright, I'm just glad the way it is, doesn't hurt the eyes. 4. Speakers are pretty good. 5. Numpad (I know, this should be at no. 1) 6. Back-lit keyboard 7. 1050 Ti with i7 turned out to be way better than expected. 8. Acer's Customer Care is actually better than expected. Cons: 1. Charger heats up like crazy 2. Power button could have been better (or you might like that it is kept within the keyboard and not separately) Update: Battery issue fixed by the latest BIOS update.
Genuine review on performance, usage and build quality after 1 month of usage: - What I like : - 1. Laptop is sturdy and well-built. Bought it for Rs. 59,990 and for this price the laptop has exceeded my expectation. 2. Boot up time is 9-10 seconds (literally). 3. If you are an intermediate gamer or content developer this lappy can absolutely nail it. Its future proof for next 2-3 years with no issues. Can last long but then have to upgrade. 4. Absolutely nails all latest gaming titles of 2017 (talking of Ghost Recon: Wildlands and Battlefield 1). 5. Though the screen in of 1920*1080 resolution due to strong processor and advanced chipset 4K videos are still rendered with ease (just in case if you wish to see 4K quality videos). 6. No heating issues for daily usage. Only throws up with extensive gaming for prolonged hours which is expected from any gaming laptop. 7. The most important thing the the brightness of the screen. Most people complain about brightness of the screen being just 250 nits (not bright enough to work in broad daylight); however, its good enough and not much of an issues for the price paid. What I didn't like much: 1. No accessories with laptop like bag or carrying case (though at Rs.59,990 you can't be greedy). 2. Hard to get inside the laptop. 3. Limited port selection. 4. SSD drive should have been at least 512GB, but again look at the price. 5. Mediocre battery life. Always carry your charger. All n all if you are getting this laptop for Rs. 59,990 just go for it, its more than a bargain, but for price of 1.09 Lac you can try and look for other options. Will review again after 4 months and let you guys know. Thanks....:-)..!!
One Powerful Beast !!!
Ok let's talk from the starting.. 1- delivery : it took 8 days to deliver this laptop which is not at all good. And also the reason of 4 stars. 2- first impression: TRUST ME. You will have goosebumps while unboxing it. It was hell of an excitement when I was opening it and it looks really premium. 3- pocessing- IT IS FAST BUT NOT THAT. I am not a hard core gamer but I play a lot of games. I am not considering myself as a hard core gamer because I invest more time in coding than gaming. I have played 3 games so far.... - Assassin's Creed Unity: working like a charm on 1080p and high graphic settings. But you will find some difficulties in ultra high settings - tomb raider: flawless on very high settings. - Batman: it was working fine on ultra high and lagging a bit but on high, it's marvelous. Also noted that I installed the games on HD, not on sdd because of the space issue because I had to install other programmes which are important for my work. Otherwise the games could have been able to run on ultra high settings too. Video editing: i didn't try 4k, but 1080p, it's a boss man. Can handle all Adobe programmes without any lagging. Other heavy softwares like Android studio and unity, on baby it's so damn fast. 3- Sound: I don't know why people are complaining about sound, it's fine, I m happy with it and Dolby is doing a great job. Fan sound: yes it is audible when it's on and it is loud but that's normal for gaming laptops. I could play games without any difficulty 4- Heat: yes it gets hot quickly but then again it's cooling down too quickly because of awesome predator sense. NOTE: it gets hot this quickly because it's not plastic. 5- Basic Look: lovely logo with lovely red lines. The outer aluminum brushed sureface of lid and inside is finger print cachy. No matter how carefully you are, you will see ur finger prints on the laptop. But for me, that's not an isuue. PS: engineers love messy things. 6- keyboard and mouse: that is amazing for me. I m loving it. The red light looks amazing in dark. And mousepad, I m finding a new gesture every time I m using it..lol. it amazing.. I love it. 7- screen- yes it is dim but not that. Remember that it's anti glair which is doing its job by not being so flashy. So it has to be dim and colors are amazing. I m loving doing color correction in Photoshop and premiere pro. 8- Overall: it's amazing but if u r getting it with Rs. 1.10 lakh then I think u r in loss. There are so many competetors out there which can perform well or even better. Have a look on Acer nitro 5. But on sales like how I got, there is no better deal than that. PS: if you got that, please extend ur warrenty for 3 years and get a gift like harddisk of 1 tb for 2949 rupees on shopacer within 7 days of ur invoice date.
I feel like alien with this predator.
Predator is the name given to Acer's gaming notebooks. Helio 300 is the latest offering from the company and it offers specifications we have not seen from any other brand at this price. Special mention to the thermal design with dual AeroBlade fans-these are custom, ultrathin metal fans that enable better and quieter airflow to cool the massive heat-generating components inside. The Helios 300 impresses with its stylish and sturdy design-it has a brushed metal finish lid and palm rest. On top are red accents with the Predator logo engraved in silver. Overall, the Acer Predator Helios 300 is a winner in our books. It offers great performance, top-notch specifications, stylish design and saves you some money.
First of all i am happy with flipkart service..I booked on 21st september and received on 24. About product:- Acer Predator Helios 300 is a rocking monster...With best configuration . It comes with i7-7700HQ processor, 8GB DDR4 ram and 4 GB NVIDIA 1050Ti graphics card, 128 SSD, 1 TB HDD. It comes with pre installed Windows 10 single language home OS. The startup time is very less. The sound quality is good, i used headphones also. There are Acer center, Dolby panel, NVIDIA panel for controlling performance. I installed ANSYS 18.1 and tested, it is easy working with this. Watched full hd movies. Video quality good. The touch pad is greatly impressed me. The backlight keyboard works great. Overall performance of Predator is good . After using some more time...I will write another review.
IPS panel with a matte finish which is always nice to have. It is sharp and colors look good thanks to the 81 percent sRGB color gamut coverage. Heat management is done thanks to two inbuilt fans. As soon as you turn on a heavy game or anything that requires higher performance, the dual fans speed up to cool the innards. Alternatively, you can control fan speeds manually thanks to the pre-installed Predator Sense app. The trackpad has a smooth surface and a red outline. It offers a decent size but the left and right clicks are a bit soft. The Windows gestures work good too and are very responsive. Acer has also added two easy access panels at the bottom to upgrade or replace the RAM or HDD.
