Product & Configuration are very good but ASUS Customer support is too poor (Service Center & Customer care help line) .... Please consider before buying this brand ....
I bought this product End of Jan, 2013. Recently I have encountered problems with DVD Player. When I called Customer Care Number, Initially they said warranty expired in August, 2013...When I told them I bought the laptop in this year only. They asked me to send invoice to their email ID... The moment I asked FLIPKART for soft copy of Invoice, they told within 24 Hours it will be sent to my email ID, in 2 hours FLIPKART sent the invoice soft copy. I have attached Invoice copy to the email ID along with the Case ID, there is no response from ASUS....I have been sending reminder emails to ASUS,... after few reminders one guy replied.."Warranty claim for your unit has been approved already and forwarded to concern support team".....I will be receiving call in 24 hours....I have been waiting for their call for 96 hours....No call ..... no response to the email..... They dont have SLAs(This is pathetic reply from Customer care executive)... They dont reply to customer emails.. Customers have to send reminders emails again and again...... My Sincere suggestion.....Please think twice before buying ASUS products...Worst Service I have ever seen in my life....
The laptop is amazing. However, you may find some heating issues on playing games. When I posted the issue in ASUS VIP Forum, they suggested me a link from where I got new BIOS update instructions. I followed them and problem went away!!
The best laptop in the range of 50K in my opinion. Pros- + Speakers produce more sound than its predecessor(K53) + Fast quad core i7 processor + 8 Gb of 1600Mhz RAM + 1TB hard disk drive + Nvidias GT 630(2GB) you can play almost every game on medium settings + HDMI/VGA/Ethernet port + Two USB 3 Ports, One USB 2.0 (total of three USB ports) + Camera quality is also good + Multi touch pad adds many features + Battery backup with basic usage is very good + Full keyboard Cons- -Battery backup when playing graphic intensive games is very low -Shuts down after 15-20mins of play due to heat when playing graphic intensive games -Touchpad is slightly sensitive which results in unwanted cursor movements or clicks -Speakers are on the bottom of the laptop -You might need a USB mouse for games which requires aim and shoot or use of both clicks together as the touchpad can only do one click either right or left click at a time.(Hope you guys are understanding this, Its difficult to explain) All in all great buy but totally disappointed with the heat shutdown thing and battery backup when gaming, Hence 4 stars.
I researched a lot before I bought this machine. It is simply amazing as a gaming rig. It tends to overheat but that was quickly and effectively remedied by purchasing this http://www.flipkart.com/cooler-master-notepal-storm-sf-19-cooling-pad/p/itmd4yzphxrvncms?pid=ACCD4YZZD2MJUZWW mad cooler. Don't be absolutely sure about the availability of the USB 3.0 version but it does the job just as well. Games played, though slightly old, were smooth at high settings. NFSMW Black NFSHP Mirror's Edge (Flipkart) Batman Arkham Asylum (Flipkart) AOE III (Flipkart) Quantum of Solace CnC Generals Zero Hour (Heat effect off) In the system information it will show you the graphic card as the Intel 4000 series but when in a game it correctly displays the NVIDIA GEForce GT graphic card. All in all, this is the machine you want to buy if you cannot afford an Alienware or a top-of-the-line MSI or even the Asus hardcore Lamborghini gaming series.
For Gaming: If you want to buy a laptop for gaming then dont buy this lappy thinking of 2gb card. You may or maynot know, but gaming experience does not change from i5 to i7. It has GT630M (1gb or 2gb doesnt matter) which is a barley a gaming card. Im able to run bf3 25-35fps while everything set to low. If you are planning to connect to your tv to play games then u can forget abt this lappy. Finally if you are planning for gaming only the go for SPEND 10K more http://www.flipkart.com/dell-new-inspiron-17r-se-laptop-3rd-gen-ci5-4gb-1tb-win7-hp-2gb-graph/p/itmdas5ynfkfn6za?pid=COMDAS5HFR2DYYGJ&ref=c70bcd91-8eda-4b3f-aec3-53210d898247 OR SPEND 10K less http://www.flipkart.com/asus-k53sm-sx010d-laptop-2nd-gen-ci5-4gb-750gb-dos-2gb-graph/p/itmd7vs3bhr6jtgb?pid=COMD7VPKTSFNFZWM&ref=b16efa16-19d7-4941-b12f-f6574e2577bd
Well after finding out that this was the only product in the price range of 50k with the amazing spec that were on offer, I went through a lot of reviews both on flipkart and other forums.. And knowing that the hottest topic that the model has been facing is the heating issue, well then let me tell you guys, that I'm an avid gamer and after getting the laptop, which was done after being put in a lot of doubt by the reviews, I decided to check for myself. I played hitman absolution on ultra specs and the game ran smooth like butter for 2 hours, and if thats not enough for you guys, I was playing with the laptop kept on my bed, yeah you got it right, and it never got warmer than 40c... So let me tell you, although the other con is the large touchpad, you can always decrease the sensitivity and scamper through. Also if you are in a place with voltage fluctuations, I would recommend you to get a 3pin plug as this comes with the standard 2 pin european plug. The battery is a small let off but given the processor, i got around 4:30hrs after i switched off my wireless radio and browsed on my lan connection, leaving the non availability of connection to SSD's as the only con, which cant be overcome. And specially for the brand name, the specifications and the amazingly low price, one would have to be blind to miss this sort of a product. Also, i got an immediate cashback of 1.5k and an e voucher of the same amount, so I'd say its getting pricier. So if you are in this price the only thing I would say is go and get it, and get it now....

I bought this laptop on June 8, 2012 at Rs. 55K and also got the Windows 7 Home Basic 64-bit installed along with all the drivers. I have used it for almost all purposes and haven't experienced any dissatisfaction yet. The laptop is smart on power consumption with the Asus Powergear software and gave 5-6 hours of browsing on battery saving mode and about 3-4 hours of media playback. Talking about gaming its a beast and hasn't denied any game yet even Crysis 3 on medium settings. The 8GB RAM provided is faster at 1600MHz much faster for multitasking than other 1333 MHz ones. The Nvidia GT 630M is medium level graphics card incorporating the new Optimus Technology and Big Daddy of all entry-level gaming laptops in this range. No glitches yet, it never hangs and the keyboard is ergonomic and smooth with wide-spaced keys comfortable to type. Touch-pad is also the bigger one like ultra-books with click bottons beneath the pad, giving you much larger space for selecting and drag n drop operations. HDMI provides superb quality on my Panasonic Viera HDTV and HD videos look realistic. The DVD writer is dual layer and works well. The screen is also good but you won't get IPS level colours at all angles. Built is strong with metallic palm-rest which indeed stays cool(never warmer than your hand) with Asus' Ice Cool Technology. Boot-up time is 62 seconds, if you use flash drive for ReadyBoost it reduces to 53 seconds. As a USP of this laptop it resumes from Sleep within 2 seconds. All ports works well, wifi n BT also satisfactory. You will find its competitors in Dell, HP and Lenovo but they all are costlier, heavier in weight(this one is 2.3kg) or lack in some or the other configuration.
As the other review suggests, this laptop indeed provides an excellent value for your money. The good things mentioned in other reviews are all true, good processor, decent graphics card, good battery life. I would point out somethings which I felt were worth noticing. - Laptop has a nice metallic palm rest and the top has a decent grilled mesh sort of finish. But if you try and pick the laptop up with your hands, you'll see that bottom case below the CD drive has quite a bit of movement. So looks sturdy, but build quality is not the best. - There is a speaker grill on the top of the laptop, but speakers point towards the base. If you lift the laptop up while playing some music, you'll hear better sound. There are two small grills under the laptop body where you'll be able to see speakers. So when the laptop is kept on a soft surface, you will not experience the best sounds. Also the volume is a bit low in comparison to my old HP. - My biggest grudge !!! - The power adapter comes with a CEE 7/7 European plug which does not have an earth pin. So on the palm rest of my laptop, I do get a little current leakage. Nothing to worry about, but something which I did not expect in a 50k plus laptop. I have an Asus K53 and it also has the same issue. Asus service center guys recommends buying an Indian 3 pin plug and using that with the adapter. - Webcam images are not good, and nothing better can be expected from a 0.3 megapixel cam. - While typing, minor contact of palm with the touch pad makes the pointer jump to other places. The reason for this is a sensitive and a large touchpad which makes it very easy to touch accidently. Large and sensitive touchpad is definitely good but the flip side is the bad palm check by ELAN (yes.. not synaptics) drives makes typing a little difficult. I mostly use an external mouse to avoid this. All the above said things are minor chinks in the armor. I repeat it is a great laptop at 54K price point and I definitely recommend buying this (thats the reason for giving 4 stars)
