The Laptop is really slow, starting from the boot up. It takes a lot of time to open up a simple file. After a week's usage, system started crashing and blue screen appeared. Like everybody else who bought this laptop i was also caught up with the media hype about Ryzen 5. This processor is no way comparable to Intel i series processors. Dont waste your money on this.
this is a defective laptop , 3rd class product , overheating issues , not working exhaust fan and screws of this was open ....... horrible product ...don't buy this ....and if then yours choice .
I ordered this laptop a long time ago and I had some issues with the laptop. At first, it showed cooling fan response failed error in support assist and I had hard time dealing with it. Called the service centre, and got it fixed and it took a long time before having a good checkup. Then, after servicing it wasn't showing CD-Rom and autoplay error, and I uninstalled the driver hoping it automatically fixes the error( I saw this method on google) and laptop got stuck in bootloader. Again I had to spend a lot of time to fix it, gave it to a shop to get it fixed, but I got old version of windows, which didn't support gestures or dark themes...etc so again I had to manually download windows with media creation tool and finally got it running (Last week or so). Now about performance: GTA V, Assassin's creed brotherhood and relevations ran smoothly, but GTA V has some car lag, like every time when you drive a car, fps drops to 14-15 and jumps quickly to 65-70 then drops again and this happens regularly( It is actually the map loading but it happens in all resolutions, even at lowest settings). I tried some game boosters but don't know if it's something else( I need to figure that out). I got somewhere around 55-60 Fps at 1080p settings in above games.(Except the car lag in GTA V) Minecraft with shaders( High/Extreme) ran at around 30 Fps and without shaders, around 175-200 Fps. It heats up highly on prolonged use( A Cooling pad might work). Look: Thick bezels, but that's not an issue, anti-glare display is good. 4K videos look great. No RGB lighting though. Sleek and curvy design but it's slightly heavy. Processor and playback: It comes with Amd Ryzen 5 2500U with Vega 8 graphics and it certainly beats intel i5 in performance. You need to optimise some settings and upgrade ram to 16 GB and get an SSD will give you more smoother experience. Audio quality is really good and we can adjust gestures to control music playback, which is great. Conclusion: If you are looking for a mid-range laptop for both gaming and college/work I'd suggest you to get this one. I cannot assure 60+ Fps in high settings on all games but we can adjust the gameplay with medium settings and can enjoy well. I personally bought it for college purposes and I'm happy that it can game decently. I only had some issues at the start, but laptop is soo good. When you wait a longer time for something, it's taste increases...✌️
I got the laptop for 36k after exchange and the delivery was really quick. It is good laptop with great built quality and processor speed is good. It is helpful for daily and business users. Some of the pros and cons are : Pros- Great built quality, good processor speed, good speakers. Cons - Display is not good from side angles, no num lock indicator, takes upto 6 gb memory for simple multitasking. Overall a good laptop but is overpriced if not on sale. Ideally it should not be more than 42k.
availability of latest drivers from AMD is suggested.
NB: To all the users facing random BSOD's due to Raven Ridge driver crashes, OEM driver is the culprit here. So, remove the OEM driver using AMDRemovalUtility and scan for complete drivers using DriverEasy, install them manually (also install the missing component drivers found by DriverEasy which are not installed by default - IMPORTANT) and the problem should be fixed. Otherwise it's a great laptop compared to 8th Gen i5 and without dGPU ones, better than i5/940MX combo. If you are a little bit techy, can blindly go for it without thinking twice. All thanks to the mighty Ryzen!
A must buy product for the ones who are looking for great performance, decent battery, good graphics and amazing display. Initially I was in a dilemma whether to buy this or an Intel i5 8th gen with 8gb ram and nvidia 940mx 2gb, but as compared to that this is a better option. If you doubt, go and check the benchmark test for radeon vega 8 graphics. It's better than 940mx and at par with 150mx. Coming to pros : it has amd ryzen at 45k, radeon vega 8 graphics, FHD display (plays 4k also without lag), premium look, and smooth gaming ( dota 2, fifa 18, COD, crysis, GTA V run as smooth as butter), Best for photo editing and video editing if you are into photography. Cons : heats up a little bit because of the exhaust below the laptop (can be cured by using laptop cooler), no keyboard back-light, bazels are a bit to look for, battery just above average. Bought it at 44.5k
I'm very happy with the overall performance. Actually I was bit confused because processor on this laptop is from AMD.. But tbh with you AMD Ryzen is a world class processor.. I'm a Intel fan but this time (Ryzen) destroyed Intel i5 processors. Yes.. (This new Ryzen processor comes with built-in GPU) & GTA 5, Asphalt 9, CSGO, Photoshop, Illustrator are running smoothly & those are heavy applications and games.. You can't compare 2 GB (radeon graphics) with this new Ryzen processor with Vega graphics.. (This time they nailed it.. Top class performance) This Dell machine can run 4K videos.. I mean are you serious... + Display is Full HD & brand is Dell. Go for it guys.. No heating issues so far.. Some cons: * Battery (4-5 hours maximum) * My windows 10 crashed like 4-5 times, but hey it's a software related issue. * Weight ( Yes I'm a macbook air user so this 2.5 KG laptop is pretty bulky for me.. Lol) * No fingerprint security option (Guys, Year is 2018) * Backlit keyboard missing (No lights where some folks are enjoying RGB lights.. Hehe) * This laptop is not for heavy gaming (Yes you can run almost any game on this machine but you can't play every single game on high settings or 60FPS) * No backpack included * Old school Design (Dell is Dell)
The laptop is good overall but bloatware makes the startup laggy. The laptop has a good selection of ports and i am overall satisfied with that. The screen is antiglare but the peak brigthness is somewhat less for my liking. The windows 10 is likely to face 100% disk usage error in most of the scenarios. For the solution Go to services.msc using run and disable Print spooler, BITS, Windows Search. If the problem still persist disable the windows Defender and it will most likely solve the problem. As due to 100% disk error i could not test out the full potential of the system. The keyboard is good with nice travel to the keys and the mouse tracking is also good. The speakers are pretty loud and are good for content consuption. Overall the machine is a good package costing me 40500 during the independence day sale.
