Tata Motors has rolled out the first batch of its all-electric versions of the Tata Tigor compact sedan from its manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat. Tata Motors, along with Mahindra & Mahindra are the joint suppliers of a 10,000-car tender issued by the Energy Efficiency Services Ltd. (EESL). Mahindra has already supplied the first batch of its e-Verito all-electric sedan to the Government-overseen body, following which Tata Motors is now supplying the first 250 Tigor EVs to EESL, and is in line to supply another 100 soon. The move has come in line with the Government of India's increasing push for electrification of cars across the nation. The Government, aided by Niti Aayog, is aiming to set precedence by electrifying its own fleet of cars first, followed by establishing charging stations and better charging standards across the nation to hasten adoption of electric cars in the mainstream market.
