Digit Verdict for AMD Ryzen 7 5700G Desktop Processor

By Mithun Mohandas

With the introduction of these new Cezanne APUs, DIY PC builders certainly have more processors to pick from but the decision isn't as simple as is the case with Intel. When you switch from a K or a non-K processor to an F processor from Intel, you don't lose out on performance in all other aspects. That is not the case with AMD as the APUs are rated for 65W and don't perform as well as their X counterparts. Moreover, the lower L3 Cache also reduces performance compared to other Zen 3 processors. On the bright side, the IGP continues to be ahead of both Intel and older gen AMD processors, and with the introduction of FSR, these APUs do not require a discrete graphics card in some competitive video games. This would have been a much sweeter deal had AMD launched entry-level Ryzen 5000 APUs but for now, these will do.

AMD Ryzen 7 5700G Desktop Processor Brief Description

AMD Ryzen 7 5700G is an APU and part of the Zen 3 "Cezanne" line up of the 4th Gen AMD Ryzen processors which feature faster clock speeds thanks to improvements in the silicon used by AMD for these processors. The base core configuration of these new processors are similar to the 3rd Gen Ryzen processors but they feature much better clock speeds. Zen 3 has a lot of improvements with IPC and AMD processors are now great for single-threaded applications such as gaming. The AMD Ryzen 7 5700G features 8 Cores / 16 Threads with a base clock of 3.8 GHz and a Boost clock of up to 4.6 GHz. Being an APU, it also has Integrated Radeon Graphics with a total of 8 Compute Units clocked at a maximum of 2000 MHz. The launch price for the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X is USD 359 and the Official Indian price is INR 29,990 + 18% GST, which works out to INR 35,388.
