The X1 has a seven-inch capacitive display with 800x480 pixels resolutions. It features a 2MP camera, 4GB of inbuilt storage that is expandable to 32GB via microSD. The device also supports HD video content and has a 3500 mAh battery. While the X1 ME tablet technically only supports Wi-Fi connectivity, it also has an option of 3G data connectivity via USB dongles. The X1 also supports Flash, through Adobe Flash Player 10.3.

Speaking on the occasion, Harsh Chitale, CEO, HCL Infosystems, says, “We are excited to launch our new tablet ‘The X1’, specially designed to cater to the demands of the Indian customers. The X1 ME Tablet promises to bring great value by re defining on–the-go user experience with its innovative design, display and technology. Today’s consumer doesn’t just look for a product but a complete productivity and service ecosystem around it, which led us to innovations like creating powerful content and local applications which will be backed by our nationwide support service network and 24X7 one touch customer service.”

“As a brand we are aligning ourselves with the consumer’s unmet desire to live the life he wishes for. We want our products to be one of the prime enablers to the life that our consumer aspires for and we are confident that with our expertise in the industry a device like The X1 will unleash innovative models of usage both in the B2B & B2C segments backed by customized applications.” Chitale adds.

HCL says its X1 is the only tablet to feature a PC sync option, called “ME Connect” which facilitates transfer of content to the tablet from any another computing device. The device comes pre-loaded with a number of apps such as Naukri.com and LinkedIn.

The ME X1 Tablets will be available in stores from 13th October, 2011 onwards.
