If you are into mobile gaming, chances are you have heard about the NVIDIA Shield tablet. A new FCC filing has been sighted, suggesting a new NVIDIA Shield tablet. The listing does not give us any details regarding the build or the specifications of the device, but it does provide us with the tablet dimensions. According to Liliputing, which spotted the listing, the device is 215mm tall and 120mm wide, which makes it slightly smaller than the current generation tablet. It is likely that the new tablet may offer a similar, 8-inch display as last time, with updated internals.

The current generation NVIDIA tablet is powered by the Tegra K1 SoC, which features a 192-core-based Kepler GPU. The device is aimed at mobile gaming, and houses a 2.2GHz SoC. The upcoming tablet, however, is expected to be powered by the new Tegra X1 SoC, and could be called SHIELD Tegra X1. The Tegra X1 SoC has an octa-core ARM-based CPU and a new 256-core Maxwell-based GPU. This new chip is DX12-ready, and supports Vulkan graphics API as well. According to NVIDIA, the Tegra X1 can play a 4K H.265 file and will offer output support of 4Kx2K video at 60Hz.

According to Fudzilla, a device listing by the name NVIDIA Shield Tablet X1 was found back in November 2015 on GFXBench. According to this listing, the device has an 8-inch display with resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. There is 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, and the device will be running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. We expect NVIDIA to showcase the new tablet, alongside its new GTX 1080, 1070 GPUs at Computex 2016.
