The company seems to skip the Android Oreo 8.0 update for the device. The soak test is currently running in Brazil and Indian users might have to wait a bit longer to get the final update.

It seems that Moto G5S Plus (Review) was never getting an Android Oreo 8.0 update. A number of users reportedly have started to receive the Android Oreo 8.1 update on their devices. Noteworthy is that an Android Oreo 8.0 OS was never seen installed on this model in the wild, which means the company is skipping over 8.0 Oreo update for this device.
The 1.18GB update bears version number OPP28.60 and is a part of a soak test which is currently underway in Brazil. Not everyone will get access to it at the moment as the soak test is like a beta period for the update, sent to a small number of people, for testing. However, it means Motorola is almost ready to send the Oreo update to the Moto G5S Plus, and all users should be getting it soon. Updates are also phased usually, which means that Indian users may have to wait longer for it.
Lenovo-owned Motorola launched Moto G5S Plus -- an upgrade to Moto G5 Plus -- in August last year. It comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset with octa-core CPU clocked at 2GHz and with a Adreno 506 GPU. It houses a 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB.
When it comes to camera, Moto G5S Plus has a dual-camera setup with 13-megapixel sensors. The front shooter has an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens with f/2.0 aperture, and LED flash. The device houses a 3,000mAh battery with Turbocharging.
Recently, Lenovo slashed the price of its Moto G5s smartphone in India by Rs 5,000 and it is now available for purchase at Rs 9,999 from Amazon under the 45th anniversary sale. The company announced this on Twitter and said that the discount is being offered as they made the first phone call 45 years ago and will be valid till April 11. For those who don’t know, Martin Cooper, a Motorola employee, made the first publicised handheld mobile phone call on a prototype of the Motorola DynaTAC model on April 3, 1973 from New York City to the Bell Labs headquarters in New Jersey.
