Intel ‘Clover Trail’ Atom PCs not receiving Windows 10 Creators Update: Report
  • Those with devices powered by Intel’s Clover Trail Atom processors are reportedly getting an error message when trying to update stating that Windows 10 is no longer supported on their device

It seems like not everyone will be getting the Windows 10 Creators Update. According to a report by ZDNet, certain users are getting a message stating “Windows 10 is no longer supported on this PC” when they try to complete the setup process. The error code displayed is 0xC1900209, which suggets that the system does not pass the compatibility scan. This error is reportedly being faced by those running devices based on Intel’s Clover Trail generation of Atom processors. There are four Clover Trail Atom processors that apparently do not support the Windows 10 Creators Update. These include the Intel Atom Z2760, Atom Z2520, Atom Z2560, Atom Z2580. These were generally used in low-cost laptops, tablets and convertibles, which were usually shipped with Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, and most owners would have updated them to Windows 10 when it was announced.

While neither Microsoft nor Intel and published any information regarding this, although Acer has a support page mentioning that the above mentioned processors are not supported by the Windows 10 Creators Update. The support page also suggests that the company is working with Microsoft and the problem might end up being temporary. “Microsoft is working with us to help provide compatible drivers to address this incompatibility. If you install the Windows 10 creators update, icons and text may not appear at all, or may show up as solid color blocks or bars,” the page states. It also notes that if any user has installed the update and is experiencing problems, they should use the Windows 10 recovery options to restore their system to the previous build.

Microsoft’s Windows 10 Creators Update started rolling out globally back in April. Besides offering enhanced security features, the update offered new creativity and experiences on 3D, mixed reality, enhanced apps, built-in game broadcasting, 4K gaming, and more.
