Nvidia quietly launches GeForce GTX 1060 card with GDDR5X memory
HIGHLIGHTS

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 card with 6GB GDDR5X memory is priced at $299 in the US, which roughly translates to Rs 21,900 in India. However, the final cost of the card in India might be higher than that.

Following the launch of its GeForce RTX cards, Nvidia has quietly updated its GeForce GTX 1060 graphic card with 6GB GDDR5X memory. The previous version of the card offered GDDR5 memory. The rest of the features of the card are more-or-less identical to the previous card. It too is based on the Pascal architecture and is of the same size as its predecessor.

In the US, the new card is priced at $299, which roughly converts to about Rs 21,900. This is still cheaper than that 6GB GDDR5 version of the old card sold in India, which is priced at Rs 27,800. It is not yet known if or when the new card will be launched in India or what its final price in the country will be.

Of course, the launch of the RTX cards would be the highlight of Nvidia this year. The new 20-series cards are now the flag bearers of the brand and all feature real-time ray tracing capabilities. The company launched three cards in the series, namely the RTX 2070, RTX 2080 and the top-of-the-line RTX 2080 Ti. The flagship offer 4352 Cuda cores with a boost clock speeds of 1545MHz, with the Founder’s Edition upping it to 1635MHz. The card offers 11GB of GDDR6 memory and a maximum resolution of 7680 x 4320p at 60Hz. In the US, this card is priced at $1,199, which converts to about Rs 87,900. However, in India, the card is priced at an eye-watering Rs 1,02,500.
