Since the photos were posted on Weibo, the original metadata is lost and as a result, we could not figure out the ISO and shutter speed at which the photos were shot.

Xiaomi is expected to launch the flagship Mi 9 next week on February 20, the same day Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S10 lineup of phones in San Francisco. Xiaomi has an event scheduled in China on the same day. Now, Xiaomi’s co-founder and director of the Chinese division, Chuan Wang posted a few image samples taken from the triple-camera setup of the phone on Weibo. The images and the watermark in them reveals the Mi 9 will come with a 48MP camera.

The three photos shared by the co-founder are of flowers in low light, followed by a photo of three dogs (albeit in a cage) and a crab (also in a aquarium). While the first photo doesn’t have a watermark, the other two carry the Mi 9 watermark with the caption, “48MP Triple Camera”.  All the three photos seem to be highly-detailed. You can make out every individual flower petal as well as the difference in light falling on them. The second photo of the dogs also have incredible clarity. It’s shot against the light and yet every piece of hair can me made out. The third photo too have similar high details where you make out the texture of the crab’s body. Even the air bubbles in the corner look well-detailed, but the big balloon of air in the top left corner reveals the camera is stacking pixels to ensure more detailed low-light shots.

However, since the photos were posted on Weibo, the original metadata is lost and as a result, we cannot figure out the ISO and shutter speed at which the photos were shot.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun also also posted official renders of the phone on Weibo confirming previous information. The official renders reveal the Mi 9 having a glossy blue exterior with gradient colours. The phone has a vertically-aligned triple camera setup, one of them being the 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, while the second is a 12MP sensor and the third’s a ToF sensor. On the front, the phone is expected to feature a 24MP Sony IMX576 sensor for selfies.

The leaked images also revealed the phone will rock a waterdrop notch, once again confirming previous rumours. The Mi 9 is expected to come with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint sensor. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The phone will also house a 3500mAh battery that can reportedly be charged with a 27W fast charger. The phone is expected to run on Android 9 based MIUI 10.
