Samsung A-series launch set for February 28 in India
HIGHLIGHTS

According to a notice in the Samsung Members app, Samsung will hold events in Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad to unveil the A-Series phones.

Highlights:

  • Samsung to unveil Galaxy A-Series smartphones on February 28 in India
  • The launch will happen in Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad
  • Just like it did with its M-Series, Samsung may launch Galaxy A10, Galaxy A20 and Galaxy A30

Through a notice in the Samsung Members app, Samsung has unveiled the launch date of its A-Series devices in India. Samsung has asked these members to block the evening of February 28 to witness the launch of the new devices. In the notice, the South Korean giant clearly says that it has got “more up our sleeves with the Galaxy A Series”. However, it has not revealed the names of the models that it plans to uncover later this month.

“This Feb, unveil the power with the all new Samsung Galaxy A Series,” the company said in the notice to all its members. “Mark your calendars for 28th Feb: Big things are coming and we are super excited to let you know that there is more up our sleeves with the Galaxy A Series. We are coming to your cities –  Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad to unveil our latest, so let's share an evening together,” the notice reads.

Just like it has with its M-series devices, Samsung has chosen India as the launchpad for its new A-Series phones. The move can be seen as company’s push to generate $4 billion in sales in 2019 through the A series. Samsung already has eight phones that belong to this series and the company had announced that it “will be creating a whole portfolio for the A series.” There are chances that it could launch three phones – the Galaxy A10, Galaxy A20 and Galaxy A30 – later this month.

Further, a few phones from the series have already been seen listed on certification sites, and have been spotted in leaks and reports. For example, a phone with the model number A505FN/DS was spotted in a Wi-Fi Alliance listing. Speculated to be the Samsung Galaxy A50, the phone also popped-up on Geekbench, where it was listed running on the Exynos 9610 SoC, coupled with 4GB RAM. It may come in 64GB or 128GB storage options and a 4,000mAh battery.

Similarly, a Chinese leakster had claimed that Samsung could be working on a premium mid-range Galaxy A10 smartphone with an under-display fingerprint sensor. Earlier this month, famous tipster Ice universe talked about the Galaxy A90 and claimed that it would feature a pop-up selfie camera. If that information is true, the Galaxy A90 will be Samsung’s first phone with a pop-up camera. Further, the tipster claimed that the Galaxy A90 could have an edge-to-edge display with no notch or punch hole in the display.

Interestingly, the A-Series launch falls a day after the company launches the Galaxy M30. Recently, the company announced on Twitter that it would launch the Galaxy M 30 on February 27 in India. The phone is expected to sport an edge-to-edge display. The short video on Twitter showed a fingerprint sensor on the back and a vertically aligned triple camera system. The camera may feature 13MP (F1.9) + 5MP (F2.2) + 5MP (F2.2) sensors on the back, and a 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture in the front.
