The Realme U1 is being teased to feature a powerful selfie camera and it will be launched as an Amazon exclusive.

Realme previously announced that its upcoming U series smartphone will be the first to be powered by the MediaTek Helio P70 SoC and now, we know that the handset is called the Realme U1. The Realme U1 will be the company’s fifth offering in the Indian market and will be available exclusively via Amazon. The online retailer has hosted a dedicated microsite for the handset and revealed that the phone will be launched in India on November 28, 12:30 PM. Realme is teasing the new phone with the “Most Powerful Selfie Camera Ever” and it is touted to feature a high-res depth engine with accurate AI detection.

With the help of the Helio P70, the device will also be capable of faster multi-frame noise reduction shots and come with anti-blooming engine. The new chip features four Cortex A73  performance cores and four low-powered Cortex A53 cores that are clocked at 2.1GHz. built using TSMC’s 12nm FinFET, the processor also features a dedicated AI co-processor. The processor is faster than its predecessor, the Helio P60, but in terms of clock speed, it is still slower than the Snapdragon 660. Coming back to the Realme U1, it will feature a “Dewdrop notch” display, which is just another moniker for the waterdrop notch we are now seeing on some Oppo phones and the recently launched OnePlus 6T. Unfortunately, apart from the processor, there are no official details about the device’s internals. However, an earlier Geekbench listing of the device suggests that it could be launched running on Android 8.1 Oreo with 4GB RAM.

The brand Realme was launched by Oppo to take on Xiaomi in the mid-range and budget segments. However, Oppo and Realme separated back in July this year and the company went ahead to launch the Realme 2, Realme 2 Pro and the Realme C1 this year. Sky Li, Former Vice President of Oppo and Head of Oppo India, announced that he has resigned from the company and taken charge as the Global CEO for Realme.
