HIGHLIGHTS

Realme has taken to Twitter to tease the upcoming budget smartphone, just in time for the launch of the Redmi Note 7 in India.

Highlights:

  • Realme 3 teased on Twitter
  • The phone is expected to carry a 48MP camera
  • Realme 3 will compete with upcoming Redmi Note 7

The Realme 3 is on its way and the company, as well as its executives, have started teasing the upcoming budget smartphone through its social media handles. The latest teaser can be spotted on Twitter, with both Realme and its CEO, Madhav Sheth, teasing the Realme 3 through an image post. The Realme 3 teasers have very strategically started showing up now when Xiaomi is preparing to launch its budget Redmi Note 7 smartphone in the country. While we still don’t have a launch date for the Realme 3, Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 7 launch is slated for February 28. Just like the Redmi Note 7, the Realme 3 is also expected to come carrying a 48MP camera setup.

In his Tweet teasing the upcoming smartphone, Sheth writes, “Realme 1+ Realme 2 = Best Power and Best Style in the same segment.” This suggests that like the Realme 1 and 2, the Realme 3 will also be a budget offering. Not much is known about the Realme 3, except that it could possibly challenge the Redmi Note 7 phones from Xiaomi with a 48MP camera setup and that it will launch in Q1 2019. Keeping with tradition, the phone could sport a large battery.

Realme also follows a flash sale model like Xiaomi and last year, when the company announced the Realme 2, it managed to sell 3.7 lakh units in its first two sales. According to Counterpoint Research, Realme entered the top five smartphone brands in India by 4Q 2018 by acquiring 4 million users faster than any other brand. The Realme 3 is expected to strengthen this user base when it launches.

Realme is also planning to make its offline presence stronger and open exclusive experience stores in India by Q2 2019. The company recently partnered with Reliance Digital to sell its smartphones via more than 1300 Reliance Digital and My Jio stores in 130 cities. Realme is expected to add 20,000 outlets in 150 Indian cities this year.

Realme also recently announced an Early Access Program, which aims to give its fans a shot at experiencing the company's new phones before anyone else. It also gives fans access to latest information on the company's new projects and assured invites for every official Realme event, along with goodies by the company. The company might utilise this platform to further promote the upcoming Realme 3 smartphone.
