Offline sales up 18% YoY, outpacing online due to festive timing and retail push.
With the festive season already kicked off, the Indian smartphone market has seen a strong moment. The segment sales between September 22 and October 2, 2025, saw a 5 per cent year-on-year growth in units sold compared to the same festive period in 2024, according to TechInsights Mobile End Markets. It was largely driven by the deep festive discounts, bank card offers and no-cost EMI options across online and offline.
SurveyAs per the report, Samsung continued to lead India’s smartphone market during the festive season sale with an 18 per cent overall market share. It was boosted by the flagship online sales on Flipkart and Amazon. Heavy discounts on premium models such as the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Ultra drew major consumer attention- the S24 dropped to Rs 39,999 from its Rs 64,999 MRP, while the Ultra variant was available at Rs 71,999 instead of Rs 97,999.
Apple followed closely with 16 per cent market share, a 6 per cent growth year on year. The brand, as per the report, sold nearly one million iPhone 16 units during the 11-day period, with strong demand for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max.
Vivo, including iQOO, matched Apple’s 16 per cent market share, a whopping 60 per cent YoY growth. The T series in online markets and the Y and V-series offline got major attention. The company also topped offline sales charts, thanks to its vast retail network and promoter partnerships. OPPO ranked fourth with a 13 per cent market share, reflecting a modest 2 per cent YoY rise.
Lenovo-Motorola closed out the top five with an 11 per cent share and a 47 per cent YoY gain, aided by strong product launches and celebrity-endorsed marketing campaigns. Emerging brands such as Nothing (CMF) and Google also performed well, with both posting over 40 per cent YoY growth. The CMF Phone 2 Pro and Pixel 9 series were top sellers, with the latter selling out on Flipkart in just two days.

Interestingly, while online channels dominated in sales volume, the offline market increased quicker, expanding 18 per cent YoY versus only 1 per cent growth online. Abhilash Kumar, Senior Industry Analyst at TechInsights ascribe this to the holiday calendar aligning after Shradh, providing physical shops an early advantage.
