Back in April, Asus launched its Max Pro M1 (review) smartphone in India that runs on stock Android Oreo. The phone is now receiving the November Security Patch via a Firmware-Over-The-Air update (FOTA), along with some more improvements and bug fixes. Asus announced that the FOTA version – OPM1.WW_Phone-15.2016.1811.338-20181206 brings improved Wi-Fi hotspot compatibility and better compatibility for third-party apps, specifically Instagram. The company says that the new patch will also optimise the handset's power consumption and audio should also be improved when using headphones.

Additionally, there are some camera performance enhancements that kick in while video recording. The FOTA update will be released in batches, starting 12:30 PM on December 19 and one might need to wait a while before it is seeded to their device. However, one can head over to the Software Update section in their device’s setting to force check if the update has arrived for their handset or not. The company recently launched the Zenfone Max Pro M2, which also runs on stock Android OS and during the launch announced that the Android 9 Pie update for the Max Pro M1 will be seeded by February next year.

The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 (first-impressions) features a 6.26-inch full-HD+ display and sports a 19:9 screen aspect ratio. The notch on the device’s display houses an LED flash, a notification LED, proximity and ambient light sensor, along with the front-facing camera. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC and comes in three variants, with 3GB RAM/32GB Storage, 4GB RAM with 64GB of storage, and another with 6GB RAM coupled with 64GB of internal storage. Same as the Zenfone Max Pro M1, the Max Pro M2 is backed by a large 5000mAh battery. The phone runs on the stock Android operating system and Asus has promised an Android Pie update for it by January next year.

Coming to the optics, the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 comes equipped with a dual rear camera. It sports a 12MP primary sensor with a f/1.8 aperture, which is paired with a 5MP secondary depth sensor. It features a 13MP selfie camera and Asus says that it will enable AI scene detection and EIS for the phone with an OTA update in December. The main camera on the handset will ship with EIS support.
