Amazon Prime Video for Apple TV may be announced at WWDC 21017
  • Apple will allow Amazon to release an app for Apple TV, while in return, Amazon will start selling Apple TVs on its online store

It seems like we may finally get to view Amazon Prime Video content on Apple TVs. Buzzfeed reports that the two companies have struck a deal, and the partnership may be announced at WWDC this year. The deal would allow Amazon to publish its app for tvOS, while Apple would be allowed to sell the Apple TV on Amazon’s store. The Apple TV and Google’s Chromecast are not available on Amazon since these devices reportedly inspire “customer confusion.” Amazon has its own media streaming device called Fire TV Stick, which it launched in India a few weeks ago.

Before this, Apple users wanting to watch Amazon Prime Video via their Apple TVs had to stream it from their iPhone and then stream it via AirPlay.

Apple is also expected to unveiled its new ‘Siri Speaker’ at the event. The speakers are said to be a competitor to Amazon’s Echo speakers and is reportedly being tested by Apple employees. The speaker is tipped to be a more premium device than Amazon’s offering with seven tweeters and a subwoofer. Amazon recently unveiled a new version of its Echo lineup of speakers called Echo Show, which features a touch screen display. Microsoft has also launched a similar speaker in partnership with Harman Kardon. Called the Invoke, the speakers come with the Microsoft’s Cortana digital assistant. Google also has a smart speaker called Google Home.
