Tata Motors and Microsoft have announced an agreement aimed at bringing connected and personalised driving experiences to Indian drivers via affordable cars. As per the agreement, Tata will use Microsoft’s Connected Vehicle Platform to bring functionality like advanced navigation, predictive maintenance, telematics and remote monitoring features. The companies also announced that the first vehicle to showcase such technology will be unveiled at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show on March 7.

Anant Maheshwari, President, Microsoft India stated, “We are excited to partner with Tata Motors as they embark on a new journey of innovation with Microsoft Azure cloud. Using IoT, AI and machine learning technologies, we will provide vehicle owners in India and across the world with a safe, productive and fun driving experience.”

Microsoft’s connected vehicle technology combines AI, machine learning and IoT capabilities on its global hyper-scale Azure cloud, which is then used to create smarter and safer driving experiences for users. This can be used to analyse driver profiles, and proactively make suggestions such as points of interest, shopping and route assist, while on the move. It can also monitor vehicle health and send pre-emptive service alerts to owners. It can also capture and analyse live road conditions, thereby helping the driver avoid roadblocks and rough terrain.
