Amazing light weight product
worst product ever.
This is very good decision for everyday use and the laptop is light weight, excellent display and amazing sound quality. Overall the speed is very good and does all the actions without much fuss. Highly recommend.
After 1 month of use I am writing this review. There were are few issues initally with software. Battery life is 4-5 hrs. Disabling background apps & enabling battery saver seems to help improve battery life. Display is excellant with high contrast and colors. The fan tends to keep running always. However you can fix that with Notebook FanControl software.
Tldr; It's a great laptop with great specs and features for the price. The only drawbacks are the heat produced and the battery, but they aren't deal breakers. Performance Great. Everything is fast and loads quickly. You can run content creation and video editing software seamlessly. The processor does lose to an Intel equivalent by a small margin when it comes to a cinebench test, but it isn't noticable. The vega 8 graphics destroy the nvidia equivalent however. When it comes to gaming, you can play a lot of modern titles, but don't expect great graphics and performance at max settings. This isn't intended for gaming; you'll have to settle at low to mid settings. Still, pretty good. Boot Fast; Expected from a laptop with an SSD. I have both windows and ubuntu on my system and both boot under 15 seconds. May take a little extra time once in while. Display and Touch The display is great. 1080p standard. The tablet mode on windows works well. The screen is pretty responsive. The pen is decent, there is millisecond lag while writing which I find annoying. The pen comes with a battery and 2 extra tips. Ports Pretty good selection. There's no hdmi so you need to buy a usb c to hdmi cable. 2 usb 3.0, 1 usb c, 1 sd card, power and audio jack. Audio The speakers are great too. Fairly strong and the Bang and Olufsen really bolsters the quality. Keyboard The keys are the perfect size and the spacing is a little compact but not too compact. There is backlighting too. The position of some keys like pgup pgdown are on the extreme right which may be annoying. Drawbacks 1. Heat - the heat produced even for normal usage is more than the regular amount on other laptops. There a exhaust vent on the left which is almost always on. It doesn't get insanely hot unless you play a game or do something intensive. It's just that the normal temperature of the laptop is slightly warm. It dispels the heat well however. 2. The battery life is not amazing. It's decent and will last you about 5-7 hours. It gets charged somewhat fast, so at least you aren't losing time. Linux Support : I have dual booted this with ubuntu 19.10 Ubuntu is the most supported out of the box. If you want to go for arch then you can, but you'll have to patch the kernel to get the touchscreen and a lot of other stuff will require manual configuration; It can still be done however. Since I needed to set it up quick, I chose ubuntu. I will make an update when and if i add arch. Okay so the touch screen support is okay, bang and olufsen doesn't work, and even I haven't found a fix yet. If you audio boost with pactl or something else, you can manage with only 2 speakers. Performance is great and fast. If you use i3wm, everything literally flies. Everything else is the same. Bottomline, if you're too broke for spectre and want a 2x1 or too broke for XPS 13 as well, you wont be disappointed. Pretty solid stuff.
It is a very nice laptop. I am using it from past 4 months and not a single problem occurred. If anyone is looking for a nice light weight laptop with good graphic card then go for this.
So right off the bat what you will notice is the weight.. it's super light and great for traveling along with.. the CPU and GPU are both great. If u want more performance you can overclock the APU with RyzenAdj software and increase the tdp from 15w to 25w or more.. the screen is very good and supports HDR playback. Only thing missing is a larger battery but apart from that it's the perfect laptop. Ryzen is great for decompression and compilation workload so it's perfect for CS students like me.
Hello all, I am Ashish Tripathi from ahmedabad india. i am a faithful HP customer since 5 years. but i need to review this product genuinly so other people dont get in situation where i am right now. i have bought this HP envyx360 which is premium seris of HP. In a week in it started giving retart issues. after a lot stugle i was able to replace the product thanks to the delhi support team. But the new machine is having a display problems. it is not able to handle a load after some time. it started going of and on several time and heat of the laptop is unbearable. never seen a laptop geeting this much hot. As my reserarch on internet i found that it can be problem of AMD processor as well which is HP providing in this laptop in place of intel. So i dont know the reason, and i also dont want to do the replacement proccess once again. This is just to help other guys who are planning to buy this, my request is to dont buy it. If you done the reserarch on this model many people have faced similer issues. and have replaced 2-3 times. but nighter HP nor AMD is solving the problem. Thank you.
This laptop has a great build quality, excellent speakers. Ports are plenty and performance so is the performance. But then, in daily use things start to come apart a little bit. The screen isn't evenly lit, there's bright patches on the corners. The hinge is too loose, even trying to move the laptop around a little bit causes it to fall back flat the suface. The trackpad is shitty, and some weird issue with the sound drivers cause the laptop to go mute if you wake it up from sleep. You need to restart to get the sound back. Overall though, the good points outweigh the bad. But if I could, I'd extend my budget a little and go for the XPS13.
