  • Speaker issues and now battery issues!
    Flipkart Customer on Flipkart.com | 01-06-2014

I bought this laptop almost a year ago (had Ubuntu installed) and almost regularly had problems with the right side speaker. It (along with the keypad- they're connected) have been changed twice and I still am not convinced the sound is what it should be. I postponed reviewing expecting the best but... Day before yesterday my battery just died. I had told the service centre about it feeling over heated but they dismissed my concern. (this is less than 10 days ago) In my opinion this whole laptop should have been replaced at first short rather than parts repeatedly. The warranty will be expired in a week or so it does not bode well! I am taking it to the service centre today but with so many issues I'm very concerned about the quality and responsibility of the product and company. I've spent way too many hours going back and forth to the service centre, not to mention waiting there or leaving my computer there (which means I can't work!) This is the first time I've bought anything online and so it is not very reassuring from that perspective either.

  • Excellent for normal usage
    Vinesh Balan on Flipkart.com | 01-12-2013

Have been using the product for about 6 months. If you aren't going for gaming, and would like to be lightweight. This is the best option! Pros: Lightweight Light charger Brilliant Looks Cons: Not a very great battery backup Screen is reflective Can get laggy when multiple chrome tabs are open for long(1-2 days)

  • Battery issue bigtime..
    Mathew A on Flipkart.com | 01-11-2013

I bought this laptop on 7th September (seller: W S retail) but was not able to use it for last 2 months as i was out of town. The delivery took 5 days, of which the package was lying in the e-kart logistics hub in Bangalore for 3 days. They were giving lame excuses for not being able to deliver the product in spite of the shipping address being very near to this hub. I took this issue with flipkart & their response was good. The packaging was really good, however, on switching on the laptop few days back after installing the Ubuntu OS, it said that the battery is not detectable. Thought this might be some driver issue, n tried switching over to windows. Same problem persisted. Took it to the service center in Bangalore and they ran some diagnostics. It was actually a hardware component issue with the battery. It was showing 7.6 volts instead of 12 volts. It was not hard to understand that the battery was faulty. Anyway, the battery replacement has been ordered (under the warranty) n i am waiting for it to arrive. I was quite exasperated, because i knew the unit would not be replaced (given the customer service in India) and that i hadn't even used the laptop for a day. It was brand NEW!! Some of the pros of the laptop (usage of 2 days) 1. Build is really good, looks very attractive with the matte textured finish on the top. 2. Light weight (around 1.4 kg) 3. Screen is really good in terms of text and picture clarity (ubuntu interface looks really good), however it is glossy so reading in the sunlight will be difficult. The bezel however is matte finish. 4. Keyboard is excellent, except for the hot keys which were not functional. Will update once my laptop is repaired. Some issues that are unavoidable 1. The OS has to be installed via a USB pen-drive or external DVD drive. 2. If you want a windows 32 bit operating system installed, then good luck finding the drivers for the same. ASUS supports only 64 bit versions of windows 7 and 8. Installing a 64 bit version makes sense only if the RAM is more than 2 GB. (64 bit versions are able to utilize the RAM more efficiently if it is > 2GB) My rating for the services (scale of 1-5) are as below: Flipkart: 4 (for the product description and accuracy of information, plus the good packaging) e-kart logistics: 2 for their delay in delivery and poor customer service response WS retail: 1 for providing a faulty unit piece and the fact that i had to get the battery replaced on the first day of use. Whats the point of excellent packaging if the product is faulty (or maybe even sabotaged). Its like putting a golden ring on a pigs snout. Might even think of suing them in a consumer court, if my problem is not resolved in a weeks time. I will update on the user experience once my battery is replaced..

  • Good Deal
    Sandeep Bajaj on Flipkart.com | 01-10-2013

i got this laptop for 18900 + 15% cashback from standard charterd (suppose to get by 30th nov). Starting on review, i have primary macbook retina 16gb,512ssd laptop, the first glance was the keyboard layout same as ultra book or macbook and order it. good: * I've installed xubuntu 13.4 via usb, which was pretty fast and installation went uninterrupted. * the booting time and compiz 3d affects works well enuff.. * screen size is perfect (11.6inch) * LID is super hook * Keyboard fits well * Price is one of the major factor * Side way stereo sound is good. * Light weight. * Compact mobile phone look a like charger. * Matt finish on top. * 1 RAM slot free for expanding RAM capacity to 4gb. Bad: * I see bottle neck on CPU, 1007u intel celeron is good till you just browse and internet, this laptop is not ment for doing any sort of editing or processing work. * Little slow during multi tasking. * Lag is definitely seen but far better than ATOM or AMD vision processor. * Keyboard backlit option could have made this laptop a steal. Overall : This is best laptop in given budget. Best gift if you are planning for your spouse or parents.

  • I bought 2 of these gems
    Malcolm Dheeraj D Lima on Flipkart.com | 01-10-2013

Bought this piece of gem 3 months ago, Installed Ubuntu 13.04 on it and it is rocking since then. keyboard { As I am a Software Engineer the keyboard was an important deal maker/breaker, also I hate those useless multimedia keys which this doesn't have. The Keyboard is actually US style and not UK layout as shown in the images in almost every site. had to go to a dealer to confirm it before buyin it from him right away. The layout is very similar to MacBookAir. The Function keys (F1,F2..) are directly available and don't have to hold the Fn key to click. Ubuntu users will know the usefulness of the insert key and this has one. Also the delete is placed at the best place - top right corner, and the backspace is of optimum width, so is enter and shift. the arrow keys are smaller than usual but will get used to it. they also serve as Home,End,pgup and pgdn. The keys are of perfect size and response. Backlit would have been better, but then again for a 18-20k laptop am not even complaining. A slightly bigger ctrl button would have been nice. } applications { I use Inkscape for image editing and it works like a charm. I also use Eclipse (with ADT bundle) for development and I never saw any lag. I also have Apache web server with mySQL running in the system (Just in case you wanted to know). I use the chrome browser which is awesome by itself and no problems with that. } clickPad { The clickpad is just awesome (just give it a while). You will love the 2 finger scroll, and the 3 finger tap (same as ctrl+tab to switch between applications.) also there is a 3 finger tap and hold to select open windows, and the 4 finger tap to bring up the dashboard. it's awesome for lazy browsing ( ie with one hand while the other behind your head). Slightly slippery until u get used to it. The right click is tricky to locate, but I use the 2 finger tap instead. } display { The screen is well lit and I usually have to reduce the brightness ( which also gives more battery time). it plays Full HD movies without breaking a sweat. The lid is slightly tight which is actually good. you will required 2 hands to open. } sound { Hey, it's a less than 20k laptop. I got a sennheiser headphone. Reasonably loud and clear nonetheless, as it uses SonicMaster } build { It is a sturdy light weight beautifully crafted mean machine. Feels right in your hands. The top is made from hard rugged plastic, so don't worry about scratches. Also the ASUS logo looks elegant and not 'in your face'. Well seeing is believing, so I saw and "believed", and bought it. Does get a little hot if not kept on a flat surface, cos the ventilation is downwards } connectivity { WiFi and Ethernet work as expected. } battery { not the best in the market, but does give me 3-4 hours easily. even more when I reduce the brightness. also takes time to charge while in use. } charger { well the head is nice and small, and the wire is quite long. made my day when I saw it. also has a small notch to hook the wire onto itself. You will understand what I mean when you see it. } ports { Ethernet:some sort of innovative flap. HDMI:usual USB: one 3.0 which is awesome and two 2.0 SDCard : usual, only half of the card goes in. Audio: 3.5mm VGA: for the old timers is guess. does ruin the looks a bit KeyLock: in case someone tries (someone will try) to steal this. } ubuntu { Downloaded 13.04 and installed it from USB. awesome OS, have been using it since 4 years and dint have to re-install even once because of crash or virus. } All in all - a must buy. Bought another one for my Mom too.. she loves it, and is quickly catching up with the next gen clickpad and Ubuntu OS. get this before they stop manufacturing for some crazy reason. Buy this to show that well thought products will be appreciated. of course they could have gone a little bigger on RAM and processor, but this just works.

  • GREAT !!!
    RAVI ANAND SINGH on Flipkart.com | 01-09-2013

i bought this one on 13th august, not 4m flipkart due to high range in compare to delhi market @ Rs.18,200. but..,don't think about range around this range it is a great product, believe me. very slim(look like ultra-book),light weight, and every thing which u wouldn't expect around 18.5-19k. but..,a/c me...,battery back is not good (only 2.5-3.0 hour). and mouse pad is loose. lastly..,in this range u must go to take this one...,battery and mouse pad are not big issue...just go on....non-comparison with other brand.....!?

  • A terrific buy
    Puneet Jindal on Flipkart.com | 01-09-2013

At 19600, it is sensational. Although I had to get adjusted at first since it is quite slower than my Vaio's i5, but it lived upto the expectations.Performs very well on not too heavy/ graphic rich applications. Perfect for travelling. Although multi-tasking sometimes held it up for a sec or so, but it went okay. Battery backup is decent 4 hours, a thing i did not expect earlier since it has a 2 cell battery. Build quality is decent and it feels good in hand. A few concerns though: 1) The battery takes ages to charge - i guess almost 3 hours each time for a full charge which is frustrating. 2) The laptop has no CD drive, so installing an Operating System can be a little cumbersome. For a not so tech savvy person, you might have to shell some money at a computer center for installing it through a pen drive/ portable CD drive.. 3) ASUS at its worst, the laptop is accompanied with a Hardware Driver's CD. But they built the laptop without a CD drive. At-least they could have supplied a pendrive - even a locked one would do, but atleast the customer will get the drivers with the laptop. Big thumbs down to ASUS on this.

  • Best Laptop in the price range.......absolutely worth the money...!!!
    bikram debnath on Flipkart.com | 01-08-2013

I like the style of this netbook. matt finish, & slim and light weight. windows 8 is compact-able. easy to carry around..it may feel u like using apple macbook.... nobody will believe this netbook comes for 18.5k... webcam is 0.9 which is good..2usb 2 and one usb3 port really rare in this price....battary backup atleast 4.5 hours while using net or watching movies....no problem at all....much better than acer ...not having a cd drive is not a con ...but men wants more and more...the resulation 1366 x 768 Pixel Screen Type HD Glare Display at 11.6 inch display is really rare...afterall damm happy with this awesome product....highly recommend this to others.

  • Best of both worlds: Versatile and Fairly Powerful.
    Prashant Sinha on Flipkart.com | 01-08-2013

Bought this for my sister whose all computing needs revolves around a Web Browser. So let me brief you about all the specifications: > Intel Celeron Dual Core 1.5 Ghz Processor: Enough to power all the current generation web apps, including the new vector GMaps and in-browser java applets. Yes, It is fairly outdated, but it wouldn't have any issue running Microsoft office, Microsoft Visual C++ and some Mid Graphics games. > 2 GB DDR3 RAM: Enough to open more than 15 fully featured tabs in Chrome and switch between them without any noticeable lag. > HD screen: Being a 11.6 inch screen with 1366x768 resolution, the texts are crisp, movies lively. Although you may want to apply a matt finish screen protector so that it doesnt shines! > Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0, HDMI port and Even VGA ports were working without any issue! > The generously sized touchpad with five finger multitouch support is awesome. You wont be having any problem navigating the full W8. The only problem I had was that the touchpad starts going erratic after 10-12 hours of continuous use. But a quick restart and half an hour rest would solve this problem, always!
