I got this laptop for 88k at Flipkart's sale. And specs wise it's top notch. It's been a day of using this, and the performance is nothing short of impressive. It's crazy that you get performance akin to a full fledged desktop that could be built at almost the same price. Without further ado let's deep dive into the performance. Display: Display is crisp, sharp, excellent viewing angles, and decent color reproduction. It's a 1080p G-SYNC enabled display. CPU: CPU is a quad core Kaby Lake i5, solid performance in gaming and breezes through daily tasks like browsing and multitasking. Admittedly an i7 would've been better, but the difference would've been noticeable only in video editing or rendering stuff. And at this price point, you can't complain. RAM: A single stick of 16GB DDR4 ram. There's another free slot. So you can expand, though I must add 16GB is more than enough for gaming. GPU: A 6GB GTX 1060, is undoubtedly the highlight of the machine. This is the crown jewel of the laptop, the main selling point. At 1080p the 1060 makes easy work of most games thrown at it. While you might not get a constant 60fps at 1080p maxed out, in all games, you'll still easily get 50+ fps. Turn settings down a notch, and you're set for a buttery smooth 60fps. VRAM isn't an issue with the massive 6GB, so those textures can be cranked all the way upto ultra. Storage: 1 TB HDD and a 128GB SSD. I'd recommend storing only the OS and critical system software on the SSD. Makes boot times really fast, and the SSD paired with 16GB of RAM and the quad core i5 makes multitasking look like child's play. Sound: Uses Dolby Digital sound, and I was really impressed by the depth and clarity of the sound it produced. There's an inbuilt woofer at the bottom as well. Keyboard & Trackpad: Standard RGB backlit keyboard, with customizable shortcut keys. Typing is satisfying, however owing to the weight don't really expect to prop this laptop on your lap for anything longer than 10 minutes. I am using a separate USB keyboard. Trackpad is smooth, and pretty responsive. Thermals: Cooling is really good, and they even provide a FrostCore fan that you can swap out with the Optical Drive, though most online reports seem to suggest that this made little difference in performance, however having said that, without the FrostCore fans also, thermals are nicely managed. I didn't experience any throttling or CPU bottleneck whatsoever till now. Battery: Yet to test battery life, but don't expect it to be great. Gaming laptops aren't typically big on battery conservation. Overclocking: You can overclock the GPU if you want, since the AC power brick is 230W(as opposed to 180W which used to come with the older models) and hence can supply the extra juice. There are inbuilt Acer tools to control fan speeds and GPU clocks, however owing to my personal aversion to overclocking, and the rather high ambient temperatures of Kolkata, I'm not too keen on trying out overclocking at this moment. NOTE: The first time you boot it up, plug in your AC adapter. There's a high chance the battery won't charge and turning off the AC power will immediately shut down your laptop, as mentioned in a few of the other reviews. Don't panic. Just google how to reset acer internal battery, there'll be link to a YouTube video which'll show how you should disconnect AC mains supply, insert a paperclip in a small hole in the back of the laptop for 4-5 seconds, leave the laptop switched off for about 5 minutes, reconnect AC mains supply, and power it up.This is exactly what I did, and got it to work. I solved it this way.
DONT THINK TOO MUCH..... PLACE ORDER.... UNBEATABLE.... NO HEATING...ITS AWESOME...
I had battery issue with my previous laptop but thanks to flipkart I got replaced with new one.
Till now...not used the frost core...playing witcher 3...gta v...far cry 4 all on ultra settings!!
If you are looking for a gaming laptop in the 90k range this is the one, just a beautiful laptop and gives excellent performance. In this price point you won't get the specs that this laptop offers anywhere else.
Bought it for 86240. Awesome buy. Great looks. Does not get heated.
