Google celebrates Rio Olympics 2016 with Doodle Fruit games

The Rio Olympics 2016 will be kicking off later today, and to celebrate it, Google’s homepage features a video doodle in place of the company logo. The video introduces you to Google’s way of celebrating the Rio Olympics 2016 with its Doodle Fruit Games, which can be played by downloading the official Google app. The app, available on Android as well as on iOS, will be featuring different games every day for the next seven days.

The app features a bike racing game, water polo game, spider hurdle jumping game, fruit tennis with coconut and pineapple for now, but we’re sure Google will be adding more such Olympic events based games every day. Along with these, there’s also a strawberry in the video that is avoiding getting crushed by a huge rolling watermelon, making it to the finish line by the end of the video.

The free game app enables you to compete with other players around the world, which are also fruits from the fruit stand, just like you in a championship to win the title of “freshest fruit”.

In case you are still wondering how to get started, all you have to do is get the Google mobile app on your Android or iOS device. That’s it! Alternatively, you can also follow these steps:

Google has already started to tease and promote the championship on major social media platforms with its interesting bits.

Google, a few days back, had also announced that it will be live streaming the Rio Olympics 2016 for its users along with making it easier to view news on athletes, teams, medal counts & schedules this Olympic season.

Along with Pokemon GO, we, here at Digit are already hooked onto these games to race ahead and taste sweet juice of success. So what are you waiting for? Let the games begin!
