- NVIDIA launches a new graphics card in India
- It's the GeForce GTX 1660
- The desktop graphics card is priced at Rs 21,500
Following the successful launch of the more sophisticated GeForce GTX 1660 Ti graphics card, NVIDIA has launched the GeForce GTX 1660 graphics card in India. On sale as of this moment, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 is priced at Rs 21,500 and is designed for gaming desktops. The GeForce GTX 1660 is expected to be sold by add-in card providers like Asus, Colorful, EVGA, Galaxy, MSI, and Zotac.
The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 comes with 6GB of GDDR5 RAM, 1,408 CUDA cores, and a boosted clock speed of almost 1.8GHz. In comparison, the costlier GeForce GTX 1660 Ti comes with 1,536 CUDA cores but the same amount of GDDR5 RAM at 12Gbps. The American graphics company claims that, on average, the GeForce GTX 1660 is 35 percent faster than the GeForce GTX 1060 with 3GB of vRAM and 130 percent faster than the Maxwell-architecture GeForce GTX 960.
The GeForce GTX 1660 shares NVIDIA’s new Turing architecture with the more expensive GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, whose performance is claimed to be on par with that of the GeForce GTX 1070. In addition, the GeForce GTX 1660 comes with support for Adaptive Shading and G-SYNC compatible gaming monitors. It also features NVENC technology for single-PC broadcasting and game-enhancing technologies like Ansel, Freestyle, GameStream, GeForce Experience, Highlights, and ShadowPlay.
Explaining the prowess of the new graphics card, NVIDIA writes in its press release, “the GTX 1660 delivers the performance necessary at 1080p to play the latest games at smooth, enjoyable framerates, with rich levels of graphical detail.” In an earlier report, NVIDIA had commented that the GeForce GTX 1660 and GeForce GTX 1660 Ti were included as part of the 16-series of GTX graphics card instead of an 11-series because their performance was considered to be much closer to that of the company’s 20-series of GTX cards. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 is currently on sale in India for Rs 21,500.
