Moto G7 Play EEC listing suggests it will come pre-loaded with Android 9 Pie
HIGHLIGHTS

The EEC listing shows a smartphone with a model number XT1952-1, which falls in line with the previous rumours that suggested that the Moto G7 Play will be the cheapest model of the G7 series devices.

The Lenovo-owned Motorola may soon launch the seventh generation of its G-Series smartphones. The Moto G7 Play, said to be the cheapest of the lot, will run Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box, the EEC listing has revealed. Motorola is expected to launch four models – the Moto G7, Moto G7 Play, Moto G7 Power and Moto G7 Plus under the new series. The latest listing suggests that the Moto G7 series launch is imminent.

The EEC listing shows a smartphone with the model number XT1952-1. Though it did not reveal much information, it showed the device running on Android 9 Pie. If this is true, the phone with model number XT1952-1 (or the whole G7 lineup) will be the first Motorola phone(s) to boot with Android 9 Pie. A few of the Motorola phones have already been spotted in the wild and the same model has also been listed on FCC website.

According to the FCC website listing, the Moto G7 Play has model numbers XT1952 and XT1965 and will be offered in two colours — Black and Silvery Blue. The design of the phone is familiar and is similar to Moto’s recently unveiled phones. The devices are expected to have legacy rounded corners, the Moto Batwing logo embossed in the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD card slot along with USB-C port. A few leaked images showed that the device could only sport a single rear camera.

As per a user guide, the Moto G7 Play will have a notch that will house the front camera, speaker and a selfie-flash. The volume rockers and the power buttons are seen on the right side of the phone, while the SIM card tray is on the left. The 3.5mm headphone is placed up top while the bottom of the phone houses the USB-Type C charging port and the microphone. The device could house a 3,000mAh battery and is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 chipset alongside an Adreno 506 GPU.
