2016 is nearly over and boy-o-boy was it an awesome year for gaming. We got to play some stellar games like Titanfall 2, Doom, Battlefield 1, Dishonored 2, Uncharted 4, Gears of War 4, Watch Dogs 2, Overwatch, Forza Horizon 3, Hitman, Inside, Super Hot, the list is endless! Now that the year has come to an end, it's time to look forward to 2017 and the games that we will enjoy in the coming year. 

This list comprises of games that have launch dates announced or a launch window. We won't include games like the upcoming God of War or Dead Stranding that don’t have a concrete release window. Here is our list of the most anticipated games of 2017.

1.    Crackdown 3

Crackdown 3 is an upcoming open world action-adventure video game for the Xbox One and PC. The game is developed by British Developer Reagent Games. The game picks up 7 years after the events of Crackdown 2. It is based on Unreal Engine 4 and we can’t wait to get our hands on it. There was some information circulating the internet which said that the game was cancelled but those rumours have been put to rest. The game is expected to launch towards the end of 2017.

2.    Cuphead

Apart from being one of the cutest games we’ve seen, Cuphead is a run and gun platform indie video game. As the titular Cuphead, the player loses a bet with the devil and spends the game attempting to repay the bet. The game features a branching level sequence and is based around continuous boss fights.

3.    For Honor

For Honor is an action hack and slash video game set during a medieval period. Players can play as a character from three different factions, namely The Legion, The Chosen, and The Warborn. The game features hand-to-hand combat and graphics that look really good.

4.    Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands

An open world tactical shooter is the best way to describe Ghost Recon: Wildlands. Play the campaign alone or with friends (we recommend playing it with friends) and you get the feeling of being a tactical field agent sent to take on the bad guys. Each mission has multiple ways in which you can tackle them and the sheer options at your disposal make this game very interesting.

5.    Gran Turismo Sport

The 13th game in the Gran Turismo franchise, Gran Turismo Sport is all set to hit the ps4Where to buy 4000 8124 and PS4 Pro in 2017. The game is the only one that can rival Forza Motorsport. If you are one that enjoys driving simulators then this is definitely one to look forward to.

6.    Guardians of the Galaxy

If you enjoy telltales game, then there is one big franchise coming to the Telltale series. The teaser is as impressive as the one we saw for Telltales Batman game, and the fact that the game will be based on Guardians of the Galaxy’s characters means that there will be a lot of tongue in cheek humour.

7.    Horizon Zero Dawn

Developed by the masterminds behind the Killzone franchise, Horizon Zero Dawn is a third person open world game where your foes are giant mechanical monsters. One reason that we are excited about the game is that it's running the same engine that Kojima will use for Death Stranding. Yes, the Decima engine made by Guerrilla Games will be used by Kojima Productions. We are really looking forward to the capabilities of the engine.

8.    Marvel vs Capcom Infinite

Marvel vs Capcom has been an intense action game ever since the days of the PS1. Better graphics, smoother gameplay and a variety of movies will be the highlight of the game. We can't wait to pit Iron man and Ryu vs Spiderman and Ken.

9.    Mass Effect: Andromeda

From the studio that got us Dishonored 2, Prey is one of the most anticipated games of 2016. The game is the reimagining of the original game that debuted in 2006. Can the studio do justice to a legendary game?

11.    Red Dead Redemption 2

Very little is known about the game and only one teaser has been released. Nonetheless, if you have played Red Dead Redemption, you know why we are excited for this one.

12.    Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

Resident Evil was once considered as the genre definer for horror games and somewhere along the journey, lost its position as the best horror game to Dead Space 2. We think Resident Evil 7 is trying to reclaim its position with RE7. The game takes a lot of inspiration from P.T. and we think that’s a good thing. We can't wait to get scared playing RE7.

13.    The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the wild

Nintendo is all set to launch its new console, the Nintendo Switch. What good is a new Nintendo console if it doesn’t have a Zelda game. Behold, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the wild. The game looks really beautiful and we think it will show off the power and USP of the Switch.

14.    Halo Wars 2

While we wait for Microsoft to announce Halo 6, we have Halo Wars 2 releasing in 2017. No, this isn’t a first person shooter, but a strategy game instead. If you enjoy RTS games and are looking to delve into the Halo universe, then you should definitely check out Halo Wars 2.

15.    South Park: The Fractured but Whole

A game based on famous TV show, South Park sees the return of your favourite characters and the plot picks up after the events of follows after South Park: The Stick of Truth. 16.    Outlast 2

Another horror game on our list, Outlast 2 is a sequel to one of the better horror games of 2013. We have seen some demoes of the game and we cant wait to get our hands on it.

17.    Tekken 7

It seems like we are waiting for Tekken 7 for ages. Sure, the game is available in Japan as an arcade game but in 2017, the game will hit the home console and PC. That my friends will be the day we will relive the glorious days of Tekken.

18.    Injustice 2

A follow up to 2013’s Injustice Gods Among Us, Injustice 2 will not only increase the roster of characters but add more special abilities and a variety of armour that you can unlock through the corse of the game.
