Panasonic HX-A1 is a uniquely shaped, rugged, extremely light weight, wearable camera which is shockproof (height of 1.5 metres), waterproof ( upto 1.5 meters), dustproof and freezeproof (down to a chilly minus 10 degrees C) and thus can withstand severe environments. This camera is mostly targeted at people that are into adventure and extreme sports, so that they can use it while undertaking any activity. It sports a 3.54 MP ( 2.87 MP effective), 1.3-inch MOS sensor with f/2.8 aperture and 2.6mm focal length. It can shoot full-HD resolution videos at 30fps and HD slow-motion videos at 60fps or 480p video at 120fps. The main highlight of this camera is its 0lux night-vision mode that lets you record in pitch darkness, provided there is an infrared light source illuminating the scene.
Another important feature of Pnansonic HX-A1 is Loop recording, where the camera retains the most recent hour of scenes by erasing earlier scenes. This is done by managing video in two-minute segments. More storage of up to 128GB can also be added through a microSD card slot. This cylindrical camera can be worn in various positions - can be mounted onto goggles, bags, helmets, or a tripod to suit a variety of shooting environments. The camera has IP68 certification, built-in Wi-Fi to control it remotely and can also be used with Panasonic's accompanying smartphone app, that lets the user preview the pictures and share them instantly. WiFi can also be used to pair it with its 2015 range of camcorders for a twin-cam setup or can be connected to the computer and be used as a webcam. A number of accessories are also available from Panasonic to aid this camera such as handlebar mount, extended battery, a clip mount or a head mount. This device comes in 2 colour options – Black and Orange.
