Docking stations are one of those accessories you don’t realise you need until you start running out of ports or get tired of constantly plugging and unplugging cables. In today’s remote and hybrid work setups, flexibility has become essential, whether that’s connecting to multiple displays, ensuring a stable wired network connection, or having quick access to SD cards for media transfer. Alogic’s Universal 12-in-1 Mini Dock DV3 tries to tackle all of these scenarios in one compact unit. But does it live up to the promise of being the ultimate all-in-one dock, and more importantly, is it the right product for you?

This review takes a detailed look at the DV3, covering design and build quality, connectivity, features, compatibility, everyday usability, and price-to-value ratio. The goal is simple: by the end, you should know clearly whether this dock fits your workflow or if you should look elsewhere.

Design and Build Quality

At first glance, the DV3 doesn’t scream “premium,” but its compact design feels practical. Measuring around 127 × 60 × 16.5 mm and weighing about 150 grams, it is small enough to slip into a laptop bag without adding bulk. The chassis is built from a sturdy plastic with a matte finish, which resists fingerprints fairly well. While it isn’t a solid block of aluminium like some high-end Thunderbolt docks, the DV3 doesn’t feel flimsy either. The lightweight design is a trade-off: it’s highly portable but not as rugged as docks meant to sit permanently on a desk.

A short integrated cable connects the dock to your laptop, and Alogic includes a USB-C to USB-A adapter for older devices. This design choice makes the dock versatile but introduces one limitation: because the cable is fixed, if it wears out, you can’t replace it. For most buyers, this won’t be an issue, but it’s something professionals relying on long-term durability should keep in mind.

Port Selection and Accessibility

The headline feature of the DV3 is, of course, its 12 ports. Here’s a breakdown:

Video Outputs: 2 × HDMI, 1 × VGA

USB Ports: 3 × USB-A 2.0, 1 × USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps), 1 × USB-C (data, 5 Gbps)

Card Readers: 1 × SD card slot, 1 × micro-SD slot

Networking: 1 × Gigabit Ethernet (RJ45)

Power Delivery: 1 × USB-C PD input (up to 100 W)

Upstream Connection: 1 × USB-C cable (with USB-A adapter included)

The variety is impressive for such a small unit. You can hook up external displays, plug in mice and keyboards, attach external storage, connect to a wired network, and still charge your laptop, all through one hub.

Accessibility is decent, though port placement is inevitably cramped. On such a compact dock, multiple thick HDMI cables or USB drives can make it feel cluttered. If you’re planning to run multiple displays and external drives simultaneously, a larger dock with more spaced-out ports may serve you better. That said, for on-the-go setups or clean desks with only essential accessories, the DV3 strikes a good balance.

Display Capabilities

One of the biggest selling points of the DV3 is triple display support. Using its two HDMI ports and VGA output, the dock can drive up to three Full HD (1920 × 1080 @ 60 Hz) monitors. This is perfect for productivity users who want spreadsheets on one screen, reference material on another, and a video call running on the third.

However, there are some caveats:

The VGA output mirrors one HDMI when all three are connected. You don’t get three unique extended displays unless you’re using a combination supported by DisplayLink software.

The dock does not support 4K displays at high refresh rates. If you’re a creative professional or gamer who needs 4K @ 60 Hz or above, you’ll find this limiting.

For office tasks, browsing, and general productivity, the DV3 works well. But if display performance is your top priority, especially for colour-accurate work or gaming, you’ll need a higher-end dock or a Thunderbolt solution.

The DV3 supports up to 100 W Power Delivery passthrough. In practice, this means you can plug your USB-C laptop charger into the dock, and it will power your laptop while also running all your peripherals. For devices like MacBooks, Dell XPS, or Lenovo ThinkPads, this makes cable management far simpler, one connection powers your laptop and connects everything else.

That said, the dock itself consumes some power overhead, so your laptop may receive slightly less than the advertised 100 W. For ultrabooks and mid-range laptops, this isn’t an issue, but workstation-class laptops that demand higher power might charge slower under heavy load. Still, for the majority of users, PD passthrough is more than adequate.

Connectivity and Performance

In everyday use, the DV3 delivers stable performance. The Gigabit Ethernet port provides a reliable wired network connection, particularly useful if your laptop’s Wi-Fi struggles in crowded environments. File transfers through the USB 3.2 Gen 1 port are fast enough for external SSDs, while the additional USB-A 2.0 ports are perfect for low-bandwidth devices like keyboards, mice, or printers.

The SD and micro-SD card slots are a welcome addition for photographers and content creators, though they don’t offer UHS-II speeds. For quick transfers from cameras or drones, they’re handy, but professionals dealing with large RAW files may still prefer dedicated card readers.

Software and Compatibility

The DV3 is marketed as a universal dock, and in practice, compatibility is excellent. It works with Windows, macOS, Linux, and Chromebooks, as well as iPads and some Android devices. On macOS, particularly with M1 and M2 chips, multi-display setups may require DisplayLink drivers. Once installed, the experience is smooth, but buyers should be prepared for that extra setup step.

For most users, it’s plug-and-play. The inclusion of a USB-A adapter also makes it compatible with older laptops that don’t have USB-C ports, though in that case, power delivery and some display features may be limited.

Everyday Usability

In real-world use, the DV3 proves itself as a practical travel companion. For students, it means plugging into classroom projectors or multiple monitors without fuss. For remote workers, it transforms a laptop into a near-desktop setup with ethernet, external keyboards, and displays ready to go. For media creators, the card slots and extra USB ports are a time-saver when managing files.

The main usability concern is heat: like most compact docks, the DV3 does warm up under load, especially when running displays and charging simultaneously. It doesn’t get dangerously hot, but it’s noticeable.

Price and Value for Money

Pricing varies depending on the region, but the DV3 typically sits in the ₹7,000–₹9,000 range. Compared to premium Thunderbolt docks, which can cost two to three times more, the DV3 is affordable.

In terms of value, it offers an excellent port-to-price ratio. You’re getting triple display support, power delivery, card readers, ethernet, and plenty of USB ports in a compact package. For budget-conscious users who need flexibility but don’t require 4K multi-monitor setups, the DV3 is a strong contender.

However, professionals working with high-resolution displays, heavy data transfers, or needing long-term ruggedness may find better value in more expensive but robust options.

Verdict: Is the DV3 for You?

The Alogic Universal 12-in-1 Mini Dock DV3 is best suited for students, remote workers, and professionals who need a flexible, affordable docking solution. If your workflow involves connecting to multiple Full HD displays, transferring files from SD cards, enjoying a stable wired network, and charging your laptop through one hub, this dock makes a lot of sense. It’s especially appealing for those who move between home, office, and travel setups, thanks to its portable size.

On the other hand, if you are a creative professional who works with 4K monitors, video editors handling large RAW files, or power users needing workstation-class durability, the DV3 will likely feel limiting. In that case, you should consider higher-end docks with Thunderbolt 3 or 4 support, faster card readers, and stronger build quality, even if they cost significantly more.

In short, the DV3 is not a one-size-fits-all solution. It shines as a budget-friendly, versatile dock for mainstream users who value portability and port variety. But if you’re chasing top-tier display performance or professional-grade features, you’ll need to look higher up the ladder.

Acer might be better known for its laptops, but it has slowly carved out a space in India’s home appliance segment with clean design, competitive pricing, and practical features. The Acer AR10HFATLH2C2CR24D is a 10 kg fully automatic top-load washing machine designed for large households and busy lifestyles. It comes with standout features like AI Load Sensing, an in-built heater, 24-hour delay start, and a magic lint filter, all packed into a rust-proof, quiet-running body. Here’s how it performs in daily use.

Should you buy it?

The Acer 10 kg top-load washing machine is built for families who need capacity, convenience, and care without spending a premium. It offers a range of smart usability features like delay start, child lock, and rat mesh protection, all while keeping noise levels low. However, it lacks smart connectivity and steam-based fabric sanitisation found in some similarly priced front-load alternatives. For most users, though, its balance of high capacity, in-built heating, and simple controls make it a very functional daily driver.

The washing machine features a deep maroon finish that gives it a premium edge in utility-focused households. The stainless steel drum feels solid, and the inclusion of a rust- and shock-proof body means it’s built to handle Indian conditions, whether you’re in a coastal city or an urban high-rise. The machine is relatively compact for its capacity, and the top lid opens smoothly.

While the unit lacks a glass lid or soft-close mechanism, the Magic Lint Filter is built into the tub and is easy to access and clean. The machine also includes rat mesh protection, a practical addition in Indian homes.

In daily use, the AI Load Sensing feature does well to optimise detergent and water based on the laundry load, preventing waste. The 700 RPM spin speed is modest, but the Rapid Drying mode helps drain water quickly, making air drying faster, especially important during monsoons.

The in-built heater helps with deeper cleaning, especially for children’s clothing, uniforms, or heavily soiled loads. It doesn’t support steam, but the heating is useful for hygienic washing cycles.

The Aqua Save function helps reduce water consumption in smaller or lightly soiled loads. In our tests, an 8 kg mixed load with Delay Start activated ran smoothly overnight, completing its cycle with no noise complaints and leaving clothes moderately dry and clean.

Usability and Features

This machine is designed to be intuitive. The digital display is easy to read and the end-of-cycle buzzer keeps you informed without being intrusive. There is no app or Wi-Fi support, which might disappoint smart-home enthusiasts, but the manual controls are responsive and easy to navigate.

The Child Lock and Delay Start (up to 24 hours) are particularly useful in homes with young children or for those who prefer to do laundry during off-peak electricity hours.

Installation and Maintenance

Installation is handled by Acer’s authorised service partners. The process includes demo, basic plumbing, and operational walkthrough. Maintenance is low-effort, the magic lint filter is washable, and the self-cleaning options keep the drum in good shape. However, there's no auto-tub clean reminder or alert system, so manual discipline is still required.

The Acer 10 kg top-load washer with in-built heater is a capable, high-capacity machine that’s ideal for mid- to large-sized Indian families. With AI load sensing, practical design, and robust build, it delivers a no-frills, reliable washing experience. While it skips out on smart connectivity and steam washing, it covers all the core features that matter at this price point.

MSI brings a diverse range of laptops designed to meet the demands of different gamers, creators, and performance enthusiasts. This year’s standout models include the Katana 15 HX, Katana 17 HX, Crosshair 16 HX AI, Vector 16 HX AI, and the Stealth A16 AI+, and they’re all coming to India. Each machine brings its own unique character and technological edge, showcasing MSI’s refined design language and commitment to next-generation performance. Let’s take a look at everything on offer.

Vector 16 HX AI: Engineered for speed and customisation

The Vector 16 HX AI stands out for users who demand high performance and customisation. It features up to the latest Intel Core Ultra 9 HX processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series Laptop GPUs for uncompromising speed and graphical fidelity. Cooling is managed by MSI’s Cooler Boost 5 system, which uses dual fans and a shared-pipe heat design to keep the laptop running optimally during heavy loads.

One of the biggest highlights is support for Thunderbolt 5, offering ultra-fast data transfers, high-resolution display output, and 240W power delivery, all through a single port. The laptop also boasts a 24-zone RGB keyboard, allowing users to personalise lighting down to each zone on the keyboard. Managed via Mystic Light in the MSI Center, this adds both aesthetic appeal and functional clarity.

Whether gaming, rendering or multitasking, the Vector 16 HX AI provides a top-tier experience across all fronts with an emphasis on thermal performance, speed, and visual customisation.

Crosshair 16 HX AI: Storage and visuals for competitive gamers

Built with serious gamers in mind, the Crosshair 16 HX AI is designed to maximise speed and responsiveness. It features the same high-end RTX 50 Series Laptop GPUs as the Vector model, ensuring next-gen frame rates and DLSS-powered visuals. It also includes a 24-zone RGB keyboard controlled via Mystic Light, letting players define their game atmosphere in detail.

Where the Crosshair truly differentiates itself is in its storage capabilities. It supports Super RAID, combining PCIe Gen5 and Gen4 SSDs to deliver ultra-fast boot times, rapid load screens, and unmatched read/write speeds. This makes it an excellent choice for users who juggle large media libraries or frequently transfer game assets.

These combined features make the Crosshair 16 HX AI a tactical and aesthetic upgrade for gamers who prioritise speed both on and off the screen.

Stealth A16 AI+: Lightweight design with long battery life

The Stealth A16 AI+ brings a different proposition bringing mobility and elegance together. Crafted from a magnesium-aluminium alloy, the chassis offers a premium finish while dramatically reducing weight. It’s ideal for users who require a performance laptop that’s easy to carry and discreet enough for professional or academic settings.

In addition to its portability, the Stealth A16 AI+ boasts excellent battery life, keeping users productive or entertained for extended periods without needing a charger. The display is another highlight, featuring a high refresh rate that ensures smooth motion and detailed visuals whether gaming or editing content.

Balancing portability, endurance, and power, the Stealth A16 AI+ stands out as a refined choice for users who are always on the move.

Katana 15 HX: Compact power with gamer essentials

Bringing powerful gaming laptops to the mainstream segment starting at just Rs.1,00,000 onwards is the sleek yet powerful Katana 15 HX. It is a more compact sibling to the 17-inch model but maintains the same emphasis on performance. It runs up to the Intel Core i9 14th Gen processor alongside RTX 50 Series graphics, delivering fast, consistent performance for daily gaming and multitasking.

Its QHD display with a 165 Hz refresh rate offers crisp visuals and smooth gameplay. Like the Katana 17, it includes a 4-zone RGB keyboard with highlighted WASD keys and translucent accents, reinforcing its gaming-first identity. Cooler Boost 5 ensures thermal performance remains strong even during prolonged gaming sessions.

Combining portability with power and essential gaming features, the Katana 15 HX is a smart choice for gamers who need performance in a more travel-friendly package.

Katana 17 HX: Larger screen, cooler performance

The Katana 17 HX is MSI’s offering for gamers who want a big screen and dependable performance. Equipped with the latest Intel Core HX processors and RTX 50 Series GPUs, it handles modern games with ease, delivering strong frame rates and high graphical settings out of the box.

A key feature is its 4-zone RGB keyboard, which includes MSI’s signature lightened WASD keys and custom translucent keycaps. This helps gamers react faster and navigate more efficiently during play. The laptop also incorporates Cooler Boost 5 technology, which uses an innovative shared-pipe design and advanced thermal grease to effectively manage CPU and GPU heat.

The Katana 17 HX is ideal for users who want a full-size gaming experience in a laptop form factor, complete with responsive controls and intelligent cooling.

MSI Center and AI Integration across the lineup

All these laptops benefit from MSI’s AI Engine and AI Robot technologies, which automate performance tuning based on user activity. The AI Engine dynamically adjusts settings for gaming, productivity, or media consumption, while the AI LAN Manager prioritises bandwidth based on application needs.

MSI Center acts as the central hub for controlling system behaviour, fan speeds, and RGB lighting via Mystic Light. Whether you're switching to Extreme Performance mode, monitoring thermal stats, or managing network traffic, the software simplifies system control for users at every level.

Purpose-built gaming laptops for every user

MSI’s 2025 lineup offers a balanced mix of innovation, design, and customisation. From the lightweight and long-lasting Stealth A16 AI+ to the powerhouse storage of the Crosshair 16 HX AI and the OverBoost Ultra Technology of the Vector 16 HX AI, there’s a model that speaks to every gamer’s and creator’s needs.

The definition of a “creator” has changed. Today’s creators aren’t tethered to studios or gear-heavy setups. They’re out capturing the pulse of the city in 4K, editing on the go between classes, or shooting skincare reels in a single take under natural light. Their lives move fast, and they need a phone that doesn’t just keep up, but keeps pace with intent.

The iQOO Z10R 5G promises to be one such companion and much more than a mid-range specs monster. It packs several thoughtful creator-friendly features, including one of the most versatile camera systems under Rs. 20,000. Here’s why the iQOO Z10R 5G might just be the most practical and creator-ready smartphone in its segment.

A creator’s lens for spontaneous storytelling

Whether you’re in front of the camera or behind it, the Z10R 5G’s camera setup gives you tools that simplify the act of content creation. 4K video recording on both the rear and front cameras is a serious game-changer for mobile creators and something that’s rare in this segment. You can now shoot cinematic city montages with the rear lens and seamlessly switch to high-definition selfie vlogs without compromising on quality.

Whether you're recording a cooking tutorial, capturing reactions in a travel vlog, or filming a skincare routine in crisp front-facing 4K, the iQOO Z10R 5G ensures that your content feels premium and production-ready

On the back, the star of the show is the 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor with OIS, engineered to capture your true radiance across environments. Under bright lighting, it delivers high-resolution, crisp visuals.

Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) works in sync with Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) for hybrid anti-shake that helps smooth out walking shots, handheld panning, or spontaneous vlogs. This combination ensures high-quality 4K video recording from the rear camera, ideal for creators who need high-definition content. OIS also helps improve low light performance in Super Night Mode.

The front shooter applies AI-based facial correction using 3D mapping to eliminate common selfie distortions (like exaggerated noses or convex cheekbones). This makes the portraits appear more natural, balanced, and studio-like, especially with its 72° field of view, mimicking a 50mm classic portrait lens.

There’s also a 2MP Bokeh Camera, helping produce soft depth-of-field effects for portraits that need a more professional finish.

When lighting is tricky, the Z10R steps up with Studio AURA Light, a handy soft ring light built into the camera module. It diffuses brightness to reduce harsh glare, giving your subject’s skin a smoother, more natural glow. It’s especially useful for beauty content, product shoots, or indoor portrait reels.

1x vs 1.5x Portraits

For creators who like a bit more control over storytelling in their frames, the phone includes Multi-Focus Portrait Mode with three optical-style focal lengths - 1x, 1.5x, and 2x - letting you experiment with half-body, mid, or full-length compositions. This mimics the versatility of using multiple portrait lenses, but without the complexity or weight of carrying them.

2x Portrait

And if you ever wanted to go beyond land-based content, the Underwater Mode allows for creative poolside or shallow-water shots. The feature should be ideal for quick submersion videos or adventurous travel clips, just remember to dry it off properly after.

Smart AI tools for smarter content creation

AI Eraser 2.0: Before vs After

Let’s be honest, shooting on the fly isn’t always flattering. Frames get cluttered, backgrounds betray you, and there’s always that one stranger pulling focus. That’s where AI Erase 2.0 proves useful. It can remove photobombers or distracting elements from the background with a tap.

AI Enhance subtly enhances skin tones and colours: Before vs After

Then there’s AI Photo Enhance, which restores facial details, boosts clarity, and enriches colours. This is especially helpful when working with older or slightly blurred images.

Documenting ideas or digitising scripts becomes easier with AI Document Mode, converting paper or physical notes into clear, readable digital files. Creators who script their videos, storyboard shots, or review client notes will appreciate this utility beyond just photography.

Power that keeps up where it counts

For creators, nothing kills momentum faster than a phone that freezes just as the idea lands. But with the iQOO Z10R’s MediaTek Dimensity 7400 4nm processor under the hood, that dreaded stutter should not be a problem. Whether you’re pushing 4K video, livestreaming, or multitasking between Canva layouts and CapCut timelines, the experience should stay smooth.

The 12 GB of physical RAM, expandable to 24 GB with virtual memory, means you can keep your entire creative toolkit open - editing apps, scripts, social feeds - without feeling the pinch. And with 256 GB of onboard storage, you’ve got room to breathe, shoot, and save without compulsively deleting drafts or past takes.

Then there’s the signal struggle, a familiar pain point for mobile creators. One moment, you’re framing the perfect shot in a street-side cafe, the next, your network drops off a cliff. iQOO addresses this with AI SuperLink, a smart connectivity system built around a 360° antenna layout and intelligent network switching. This should result in smoother livestreams, faster uploads, and uninterrupted calls, even in signal-dead zones.

Powering all this is a 5700 mAh battery that’s built to outlast a full day of content shoots, edits, and uploads. And if you’re in a rush, the 44W FlashCharge support means you can quickly top up and get back to creating.

Supporting all of this is Funtouch OS 15, iQOO’s lightweight Android-based interface that doesn’t get in your way. It’s optimised for fluidity, offering practical features like split-screen multitasking, app cloning (for managing work and personal creator accounts), and privacy dashboard tools.

Design that turns heads, durability that holds up

The iQOO Z10R 5G skips the flash and lands on finesse. Available in Aquamarine and Moonstone, it channels subtle textures and clean finishes that feel modern without trying too hard.

Despite packing serious hardware, the phone stays impressively sleek, measuring just 7.39mm thick and 183.5g light. Its quad-curved body makes for a grip that’s smooth, seamless, and comfortable whether you’re shooting, scrolling, or switching apps mid-sprint.

But beauty here isn’t skin-deep. Diamond Shield Glass armours the display against scuffs and drops, while IP68 and IP69 ratings bring full dust and water resistance into the mix, which is rare at this price, and a quiet nod to real-world durability.

Qualcomm has been actively championing the use of Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) as a transformative safety solution for India’s roads. With real-world deployments already underway in global markets such as China, Europe, and the U.S., C-V2X is now emerging as a practical and scalable solution for India’s mobility ecosystem.

It doesn’t come across as a sales pitch or a technical deep dive. Instead, it presents a pragmatic case for why India should treat C-V2X not just as another automotive upgrade, but as a public safety tool that fits neatly into the country’s broader transportation challenges. The message is subtle, but clear: the building blocks are here, and now it’s about putting them together.

And the timing couldn’t be more relevant. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Auto Day, being held on July 30, is expected to put C-V2X and connected vehicle platforms front and centre. While the event will spotlight next-gen automotive tech across categories, the focus on C-V2X could offer a clearer view of how the technology is evolving in India.

India’s road safety problem is alarming

In 2022, India recorded 168,491 road fatalities and over 443,000 reported injuries. Experts estimate that an additional 2 to 3 million injuries likely go unreported every year. Two-wheelers alone account for nearly 45% of road deaths and over 28% of fatality-causing offences. The scale of the issue is not just large, it’s structurally complex.

At the same time, the need for smarter, scalable safety interventions has never been more pressing. That’s where C-V2X (Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything) enters the conversation. C-V2X adds a communication-based safety layer that could offer Indian roads something they’ve long lacked: predictability and real-time awareness.

What exactly is V2X, and why does it matter?

V2X is short-range communication that lets vehicles exchange real-time data with other vehicles (V2V), road infrastructure (V2I), and even pedestrians (V2P). Think of it as a sixth sense alerting your car of a speeding ambulance, warning a scooter rider of a red-light jumper, or letting trucks know there’s a cyclist just around the corner.

Interestingly, it doesn’t rely on mobile towers. V2X works over a dedicated 5.9 GHz spectrum, offering interference-free, line-of-sight communication. And it operates consistently - rain or shine, day or night.

This isn’t just about futuristic mobility, it’s about enabling real-time awareness in everyday traffic scenarios. For instance, V2X can detect and warn about potential collisions, even when a driver’s view is obstructed. It also alerts drivers when emergency vehicles are approaching, helps navigate complex intersections by signalling traffic light status or unsafe turns, and notifies drivers about hazardous road conditions like construction zones or slippery surfaces.

One of the most impactful aspects of V2X is its ability to protect vulnerable road users including especially two-wheelers, cyclists, and pedestrians, by making them more visible to nearby vehicles. On the traffic management front, V2X can optimise signal timing to improve flow, reduce idle times, and lower emissions. And by providing real-time congestion data, it helps drivers make smarter routing decisions while also preventing incident-related bottlenecks in the first place.

China and Europe are miles ahead

If you’re wondering whether this is all theoretical, think again. China is already years into deployment. Since 2020, they’ve pumped over $1.4 trillion into V2X infrastructure. Over 20,000 roadside units are active across 90+ cities. Their national car safety program, C-NCAP, now includes V2X in crash testing scores. By 2034, China could be adding 30 million V2X-enabled vehicles to its roads annually.

Europe is also moving steadily. The EU has set a target to eliminate road fatalities by 2050, and V2X forms a key part of that plan. Automakers like Volkswagen have been shipping V2X-enabled vehicles since 2019, starting with the Golf 8 and continuing with their newer EV models. As of mid-2025, around 3 million V2X-equipped vehicles are already on the roads. By 2026, the Euro NCAP will begin awarding points for V2X features, adding another layer of momentum.

Why India is actually perfect for V2X

India’s two-wheeler ecosystem presents a unique mix of scale and vulnerability. Around 90% of motorcycles sold in the country fall into the entry-level segment, and two-wheelers are involved in nearly half of all road fatalities. That makes them not only a critical part of India’s mobility landscape but also a high-priority area for intervention.

One practical way forward is to equip new motorcycles with basic transmit-only V2X units. These compact devices simply broadcast the vehicle’s location, speed, and direction, which is enough to alert nearby cars, trucks, or buses of their presence. It’s a low-cost solution, but one with potential for real impact, especially in urban traffic where visibility and reaction times are crucial.

What also works in India’s favour is that domestic automakers are no strangers to the tech. Many already understand how to integrate C-V2X into vehicles. The industry readiness is there. The next step would be enabling frameworks and policies to move things forward.

Leading this shift is Mahindra, currently the only Indian automaker piloting V2X capabilities in its production vehicles. In collaboration with Qualcomm, Mahindra is testing vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) features that offer real-time communication between cars, a promising step that underlines both local feasibility and OEM commitment.

What Needs to Happen: Four policy moves that make sense

For C-V2X to take hold in India, the technology also needs policy support. There are a few straightforward steps that could accelerate deployment and make connected mobility a meaningful part of India’s road safety strategy.

1. License-Exempt the Safety Spectrum

The 5.9 GHz band is reserved for road safety worldwide. In China, Europe, Korea, and Canada, V2X devices don’t need a license. India should follow suit. Qualcomm argues that treating this safety spectrum as a “gift to society” will be a catalyst for mass adoption.

2. Include V2X in Bharat NCAP

Crash test programs around the world already award points for V2X. Bharat NCAP, launched in 2023, could do the same. Automakers care about safety ratings. Ratings affect sales. Incentives matter.

3. Prioritize Two-Wheelers for Rollout

Install low-cost V2X transmitters on all new motorcycles. It’s the easiest way to make India’s most vulnerable vehicles more visible. Over time, once adoption stabilizes, we can move to advanced V2X features for real-time collision alerts.

4. Equip Emergency and Heavy Vehicles

Ambulances and police vehicles should be first in line. In India, emergency response times average 33 minutes in rural areas. In Japan, it’s 8.5 minutes. With V2X integration, emergency vehicles could signal traffic lights and carve their own green corridors in real-time.

Heavy vehicles, too, are a priority. Trucks account for 20% of road deaths, buses for another 6.5%. C-V2X provides early alerts—critical when dealing with massive, slow-reacting vehicles.

Infrastructure is the last piece of the puzzle

While much of the focus around C-V2X tends to sit with vehicles, the infrastructure side of the equation is just as important. To unlock the full potential of the technology, roads and intersections also need to be part of the network.

One practical step is to equip urban traffic signals with C-V2X radios. These systems can send I2V (Infrastructure-to-Vehicle) alerts such as red-light violation warnings, slippery road conditions, or even early notifications about lane closures and construction zones. The goal is to make roads more communicative, not just reactive.

India doesn’t have to build a new framework from the ground up. Countries like the United States have already developed V2I (Vehicle-to-Infrastructure) models that India could adapt to suit its conditions. The key is to ensure consistency, which includes shared standards, uniform interfaces, and interoperable alerts across cities and states.

The idea that no road fatality is acceptable -known globally as Vision Zero - is no longer just a European aspiration. It’s a mindset that India, with its complex traffic ecosystem and urgent safety challenges, could adopt in a way that’s both practical and scalable.

The ingredients are already on the table. The technology exists, the automotive industry is familiar with it, and the global playbook is clear. What’s needed now is a coordinated push from policymakers, regulators, and public infrastructure planners to move C-V2X from pilot discussions to large-scale deployment.

This isn’t about overhauling the entire transport system or chasing futuristic concepts. It’s about enabling the vehicles already on Indian roads to communicate with each other, with traffic signals, and with the wider mobility environment.

The roadmap is there. The tools are ready. The question now is how quickly India is willing to shift gears and drive forward.

Ever since news broke of Perplexity releasing its own AI-enabled browser called Comet, there has been more than just whispers about how this barrage of AI-enabled browsers – which started with Microsoft Edge’s Copilot integration – will ultimately impact Google Chrome’s overwhelming dominance in the web browser ecosystem. As far as Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas is concerned, the writing’s all but on the wall – not just for Chrome but Google as a big tech entity, with the advent of AI in reshaping how people access and ultimately consume information on the internet.

In an interview with The Verge, Aravind Srinivas explained how Perplexity’s Comet browser is going to have a more dynamic AI component to it than what we have necessarily seen on other AI-enabled browsers so far. Available to only Perplexity Max subscribers (with an eye-watering $200 monthly cost), the Comet browser is an extension of Perplexity’s core search technology, according to Srinivas, whereby it has a built-in AI assistant directly inside a Chromium-based browser (which is what Comet essentially is).

This assistant lives in a sidebar in Perplexity’s Comet browser, analyzing your browsing context, summarizing information, scheduling meetings, shopping on your behalf, even drafting emails all through natural language prompts. Srinivas argues that this AI integration isn’t just a chatbot slapped onto a search engine, but a rethink of the entire browser experience from an agentic AI perspective. And that’s where he feels Chrome and Google will likely feel difficult to match, largely due to their business model.

Google Chrome and Google Search: Tough times ahead?

According to Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas, on how integral the AI “sidecar” becomes to the browsing experience going forward, he says, “I feel like it’ll be so intuitive. It’ll almost be like, without the sidecar, why am I using the browser anymore? That’s how it’s going to feel.” The Perplexity CEO is underscoring that traditional URL-by-URL browsing feels increasingly old when AI agents can perform workflows end-to-end. In Comet, a single search box handles all the information seeking queries, navigational lookups, and complex “agent” tasks all at once – this sort of convergence only possible inside an AI-native browser, he claims.

Srinivas also said something more interesting, trying to explain how at a fundamental level Perplexity search is different from Google search, and therefore how Comet AI browser is different from how Google Chrome operates.

Also read: Meet Comet, Perplexity’s new AI browser: How’s it different?

“A lot of people praised the Comet browser because it doesn’t feel like another browser. You know why? One of the main reasons is, of course we have the sidecar and we have the agent and all that, but the default search is Perplexity. And we made it in a way where even if you’re having an intent to navigate, it’ll understand that. It’ll give you four or five links if it feels like it’s a navigational query, it’ll give you images pretty quickly. It’ll give you a very short answer also, so you can combine informational queries or navigational queries, agent queries in one single search box,” says Aravind Srinivas. He further went on to say how that’s only doable if you actually are working on the search problem, which Perplexity has been working on since the last two and a half years.

“Basically, you cannot build a product like Chrome without building Google. Similarly, you cannot build a product like Comet without building Perplexity,” he sums up pretty well.

As browsers embed AI directly into them, Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas believes more and more users will bypass Google’s classic search page in favour of in-context answers and automations, eroding Search’s central role that we’ve all taken for granted since the dawn of online search engines (which Google eventually perfected in the late 1990s).

Aravind Srinivas also boldly warns that when users pay per AI prompt (e.g., advanced recruiting or ad-analysis tasks), they won’t generate the click-throughs or ad impressions that fund Google Search – putting its ad-driven revenue model at risk. If complex browser-driven tasks shift to paid AI workflows, Srinivas further suggests, then Google’s primary search monetization could see a steep decline in impressions and clicks.

With the US Department of Justice labelling Google an illegal monopoly last year and pushing for Chrome’s breakup from Google, with more antitrust issues to deal in EU, Google’s search and browser empire is being disrupted by AI companies like Perplexity, OpenAI and others who want to make inroads into this space by reimagining the possibilities of how people search for information and also get things done with increasingly more powerful AI workflows. It’s an idea whose time has come, don’t you feel?

OpenAI has announced an ambitious AI-powered browser codenamed Aura, poised to challenge Google Chrome’s dominance, which spans over 65% market share and 3 billion users. With a rumored launch slated for late July or early August 2025, Aura promises to reshape browsing through artificial intelligence, but its success remains speculative. If Aura delivers on its bold claims, it could disrupt the browser landscape. But can it truly rival Chrome’s entrenched empire?

A vision for AI-powered browsing

If OpenAI’s vision holds, Aura could redefine how we interact with the web. Built on Google’s open-source Chromium platform, it promises compatibility with Chrome’s extensions and web apps across Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS, ensuring a familiar foundation. What sets Aura apart is its integration of OpenAI’s AI tools, ChatGPT, SearchGPT, and the AI agent Operator.

These could enable a conversational interface where users might ask, “Find me a budget hotel in Delhi,” and have Aura search, compare, and book within a single window. A hinted “Aura Sidebar” in ChatGPT’s web app found by an X user suggests a tool for real-time assistance, potentially summarizing content or automating tasks like form-filling. Unlike Chrome’s reliance on redirecting users to external sites via Google Search, Aura might keep interactions self-contained, offering a streamlined experience, if it works as promised.

Potential to disrupt Chrome’s reign

If Aura lives up to its hype, it could exploit Chrome’s vulnerabilities. Chrome’s strength lies in its integration with Google’s ecosystem, Gmail, Drive, Android, which feeds user data into ad-targeting algorithms. Aura might counter this with privacy-focused features, such as anonymous browsing or encrypted interactions, appealing to users wary of Google’s tracking. OpenAI’s 500 million weekly ChatGPT users provide a massive potential user base, and if even a fraction adopts Aura, it could dent Chrome’s market share.

Also read: Edge, Neon, Comet, Arc: Top AI-powered browsers you must try

By delivering direct answers and task execution, Aura might bypass Google Search, threatening its ad-driven model. Reports of OpenAI hiring former Chrome executives, including two vice presidents, suggest a team equipped to rival Chrome’s technical polish. Strategic moves, like exploring Chrome’s acquisition during antitrust talks or partnering with Apple and Samsung, could amplify Aura’s reach. With 13 million U.S. adults using generative AI for searches, Aura might tap into a growing trend, if it delivers a seamless experience.

Hurdles to overcome

Aura’s potential is tempered by significant challenges. Chrome’s ecosystem creates a sticky user experience, and convincing users to switch could be tough, even with AI allure. OpenAI’s own data practices have faced scrutiny, and Aura will need to prove its privacy credentials to win trust, if it prioritizes transparency. The browser market, long dominated by Chrome’s monoculture, is unforgiving; if Aura stumbles with performance issues or fails to integrate smoothly with existing workflows, it risks being dismissed as a gimmick.

OpenAI’s concurrent projects, like GPT-5, might strain server resources, potentially impacting Aura’s reliability. Competitors like Perplexity’s Comet and The Browser Company’s Dia are also betting on AI-native browsers, adding pressure for Aura to stand out. If it falters at launch, it could struggle to gain traction in a market resistant to change.

Aura’s announcement has sparked intrigue, but its success hinges on execution. If it delivers a polished, AI-driven experience that blends Chromium’s reliability with conversational smarts, it could challenge Chrome’s dominance and force Google to rethink its approach. A privacy-focused model might resonate with users frustrated by data collection, while partnerships and OpenAI’s user base could drive adoption. Yet, the road is fraught with risks, from technical hiccups to user inertia. As the tech world awaits Aura’s launch, it represents a bold gamble: if it works as claimed, it might usher in a new era of browsing. For now, the AI browser wars are heating up, and Aura’s potential to reshape the web remains a “what if.”
