OnePlus Nord has officially launched in India after many leaks, rumours and speculations and is the company’s affordable mid-range smartphone. Starting at Rs 24,999, the OnePlus Nord goes up against the likes of the Realme X3 and Vivo X50 which is the only other smartphone in India to be powered by Snapdragon 765G chip. The OnePlus Nord (first impressions) brings the premium OnePlus experience to the mid-range with a powerful chipset, quad cameras on the rear, dual selfie cameras, fast charging and OxygenOS to boot.

The OnePlus Nord directly competes with the only other Snapdragon 765G-powered smartphone, the Vivo X50 which launched some days prior and the Realme X3 which is priced the same as the Nord but packs in a flagship-grade Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ chipset. Let’s take a look at how the Nord compares in front of the Realme X3 and Vivo X50 based on specifications, features and pricing.

OnePlus Nord vs Vivo X50 vs Realme X3: Design and Display

OnePlus Nord has a metal-glass sandwich design that measures 8.2 millimetres and weighs 184 grams. The back panel is topped with a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 for added protection and curves towards the edges to offer a better in-hand feel. The Realme X3 too comes with a Gorilla Glass 5 back panel but is a little hefty at 202 grams and 8.9 millimetres. The Vivo X50, on the other hand, is the lightest of the lot weighing in at 173 grams and measuring 7.5 millimetres in thickness.

Neither of the three phones comes with any kind of ingress protection certification, however, OnePlus Nord does come with little gaskets for protection against usual splashes of water. The phones also don’t come with a 3.5mm audio jack to connect earphones.

OnePlus Nord features a 6.44-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution display that uses an AMOLED panel with a 90Hz high-refresh-rate and dual punch-hole cutouts for the two selfie cameras. The display is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 against drops and daily wear and tear. The Realme X3 features a slightly bigger 6.6-inches LCD screen with a Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution display and dual punch-hole cutouts like the Nord. The screen on the X3, however, has a faster 120Hz refresh rate. It is also topped with a layer of Gorilla Glass 5.

The Vivo X50 features a 6.56-inch Full HD+ (2376 x 1080 pixels) resolution AMOLED screen with a 90Hz high-refresh-rate and is HDR10+ certified. It doesn’t come with a layer of Gorilla Glass protection as the other two phones.

Overall, the OnePlus Nord has the most compact display out of the three phones while the Vivo X50 is the most lightweight phone among the Nord and Realme X3.

OnePlus Nord vs Vivo X50 vs Realme X3: Under the hood

This is paired with upto 12GB RAM and 256GB storage for the Nord and upto 8GB RAM and 256GB storage for the X50. The Snapdragon 765G chipset sits right below Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 and 865 Plus chipsets and is the most powerful mid-range chipset in the market currently.

OnePlus Nord runs on the company’s popular OxygenOS which ensures a smooth and long-lasting performance of the phone no matter which app you run or any game you play. With the high-refresh-rate screen, OnePlus Nord offers one of the best Android experience to have on a phone. It will also receive two years of software updates as other OnePlus flagship phones and is 5G-ready.

Vivo X50 runs on FunTouch 10.5 which is based on Android 10 while the Realme X3 runs on the company’s own Realme UI. Both of these software experiences aren’t up to OnePlus’s standards and come packed with bloatware and unnecessary ads. OnePlus has, over the years perfected its OxygenOS experience which is one of the slickest Android interfaces on a smartphone. The company optimises its software experience in a granular way and is able to deliver a smooth performance for the long-term.
