The Vaio E15 thin and light laptop has officially launched in India as the company makes its comeback to the country after seven years. Vaio (previously Sony Vaio) exited the Indian market back in 2014, and it is now back in the country, backed by Hong-Kong based Nexstgo. Apart from the Vaio E15, the company has also launched the Vaio SE14 in India.
At its asking price, the Vaio E15 goes up against the likes of the Xiaomi Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition. One is a legacy brand that has just made its comeback while the other has a stronghold in the smartphone market but has expanded into other categories. Here’s a look at the pricing and configuration of the two laptops in case you are wondering how the Vaio E15 stands against the Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition.
The Vaio E15 is officially priced at Rs 66,990 in India and is being offered in two colours, Graphite Black and Tin Silver. However, the E15 is currently up for pre-orders at a discounted price of Rs 49,990 for the Ryzen 5 and Rs 56,990 for the Ryzen 7 model.
Meanwhile, the Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition is priced at Rs 54,999 for the 10th generation Core i5 variant and Rs 59,999 for the 10th gen Core i7 model.
The Vaio E15 and the Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition are both thin and light laptops with the E15 having 19.9 millimetres thickness and weighs 1.77 kilograms. The Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition, on the other hand, has a 17.15 millimetres thickness and weighs 1.35 kilograms.
The Vaio E15 has a larger 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution display with anti-glare LCD screen. There are narrow bezels on all sides and a 1MP webcam on top.
The Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition has a 14-inch Full HD anti-glare display with minimal bezels on all sides and comes with a separate detachable Mi Webcam HD in-the-box.
The Vaio E15 is being offered with AMD Ryzen 5 3500U processor with AMD Radeon Vega 8 Graphics and with Ryzen 7 3700U processor with Radeon RX Vega 10 graphics. This is paired with 8GB of DDR4 2400MHz RAM and 512GB SSD storage.
The Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition is powered by 10th generation Intel Core i5-10210U processor or Core i7-10510U processor and is paired with 2GB NVIDIA GeForce MX350 graphics. This is paired with 8GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM along with 512GB SSD storage. Both laptops run on Windows 10 Home.
The I/O ports in the Vaio E15 include a LAN port, a USB Type-C port, two 3.1 Type-A ports, an HDMI port, 3.5mm audio combo jack and an SD card slot. The Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition has a Type-C port, two Type-A ports, a USB 2.0, an HDMI port and a 3.5mm combo audio jack.
The Keyboard on the Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition uses a scissor mechanism but is not backlit while the keyboard on the Vaio E15 is backlit. The E15 also supports Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.2 while the Mi Notebook 14 HE has dual-band Wi-Fi support along with Bluetooth 5.0.
The Vaio E15 claims to offer 8 hours of battery life on a single charge while the Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition has a 46Wh battery that can offer upto 10 hours worth of battery life on a single charge.
