There was a time when there were only a few good fitness trackers in the market to track swimming. Now, however, there’s a lot more choice if you need a fitness tracker with robust swimming features alongside general tracking. There are tons of smartwatches that double as a swim companion and fitness tracker. We have curated a list of the best trackers that are light on the wrist and has dedicated activity tracking. Here are four such bands available on Amazon that swimmers should consider if they’re looking to track their swim.
The Gear Fit2 Pro from Samsung is the best option for swimmers who are looking for a tracker that offers real-time data of the swim. It lets you review your in-water performance while you are in the pool meeting your targets. Its key features include its 1.5-inch curved AMOLED display that makes it easy to glance at your data on the move in the water. Unlike most smartwatches, it's a slim and light band that can be worn comfortably for days. The tracker also comes with a ‘water lock mode’ that ensures the screen doesn't confuse water for finger-swiping. Aside from smart features like, the tracker also has a dedicated app that measures, records and analyses the swimming efficiency of the user.
Unlike the Fit2 Pro, the Moov Now doesn’t come with a display that can show you real-time metrics for your swim, but it does offer a more extensive peek into your activity data. Swimmers will need to set it to swim mode using the companion app before stepping into the pool; the tracker will then record stroke type, rate, distance, speed and lap times. All of that combined gives you an overall indicator of your pool stamina. What makes it stand out is its straightforward and lightweight design that eliminates the distraction from a screen and sticks to your hand like it’s a part of your body. It also has inbuilt coaching features that analyse your swim data to offer feedback on how to improve your performance. A significant reason to consider this would be to get in-depth activity data without spending too much, which makes it a great value deal.
Fitbit is synonymous to fitness, and the company’s one of the most popular Charge series goes waterproof with the Charge 3. It's not only water-resistant up to 50-meter, but it also comes with swim-tracking features. Topped up with a heart-rate tracker, multiple apps for loads of different sports and a seven-day battery and offers great value for money. Finally, it has a thin design with soft angles on all sides, that makes it a very comfortable band to wear plus, you get a touch screen to tap and navigate within the UI.
The Vivosmart 4 from Garmin is the company’s sports watch that can be taken for a swim like most of its wearable products. What makes it more fit for the list is that it provides detailed swim metrics, but note that it can’t be used in open waters, so make sure you only use it in pools. It records swim data automatically, and you can do it manually as well. All you need to do is set the pool size and select your skill level. Garmin’s companion app collects the metrics which you can later see in more detail with stats and progress. It is also very lightweight and durable at the same time, making it usable in extreme weather conditions as well.
