iOS 19 features: What’s new

One of the biggest expected changes in iOS 19 is a major visual makeover. Apple is said to be taking design cues from visionOS, the system used in the Apple Vision Pro headset. That means your iPhone’s interface might soon have translucent menus, floating tab bars, rounded icons, and glassy buttons. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this could be the biggest design shift since iOS 7.

Siri is also expected to receive a big upgrade in iOS 19. It will likely become more aware of what’s happening on your screen and offer smarter suggestions. However, this improved version of Siri might only be available on newer iPhones, starting with the iPhone 15 Pro.

The Health app will also likely see a major AI-boost. Apple reportedly plans to roll out a personal coaching system that offers fitness tips, nutrition tracking, and even expert video guidance.

Furthermore, iOS 19 is expected to enhance the messaging experience between iPhones and Android phones by adding end-to-end encryption for RCS messages. You’ll also likely be able to edit messages, undo sends, reply to specific texts, and use enhanced emoji reactions.

Another exciting feature is live translation through AirPods. Your iPhone will be able to listen to someone speaking in another language, translate it in real-time to your ears, and even let you respond back in their language.

To comply with EU rules, Apple might also include support for third-party smartwatches, improved audio switching for non-Apple headphones, and alternatives to AirDrop and AirPlay.
