There’s also been some speculation that this might be a temporary glitch on Sony’s end, as no official announcement has been made yet. A hidden gem from the past
Released back in 2016 by Mimimi Productions, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun flew under the radar for many players. But if you loved Ghost of Yōtei’s mix of stealth, swordplay, and cinematic storytelling, this one might just feel like a spiritual sibling. And if you are waiting for a special sale to buy Ghost of Yotei, consider giving this game a chance till then.
Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is set during Japan’s Edo period, at a time when a newly established Shogun is trying to bring peace to the land. To protect his rule from the shadows, he recruits five unique specialists- each with a distinct skill set that makes them indispensable in the art of assassination, sabotage, and espionage.
You’ll step into the shoes of this unconventional team, including Hayato, an agile ninja skilled in silent kills; Mugen, a deadly samurai who prefers brute force over subtlety; Aiko, a master of disguise who can slip unnoticed into enemy ranks; Yuki, a street-smart child who lures foes into deadly traps; and Takuma, a seasoned sharpshooter who eliminates targets from afar.
What makes Shadow Tactics so addictive is its old-school real-time tactics gameplay. You can’t just button-mash your way through enemies. Instead, you have to carefully plan every move, waiting for the perfect moment to strike and using the environment to your advantage. Every mission feels like a carefully choreographed dance of death, where timing and patience are key.
