Qubo Q600: Why you should consider this sub-Rs 15,000 air purifier

It’s that time of year again: the fireworks may be over, but what lingers is the dense, smoky air hanging around everywhere. Post-Diwali often brings AQI levels soaring past the 500 mark, and while we can’t do much about what’s happening outside, we can definitely control the air we breathe indoors. Because let’s be honest, an air purifier isn’t only for people with allergies or asthma. Even inside our homes, there’s dust, smoke from the kitchen and tiny pollutants we can’t even see.

That’s what made me look for an air purifier that’s not too expensive but actually does its job well. And that’s how I came across the Qubo Q600, a smart air purifier that costs under Rs 15,000, and it’s surprisingly good for the price. I spent some time living with it, and here’s my real-world experience.

Why bother with an air purifier indoors?

Most of us assume indoor air must be fine. After all, we closed the windows, we’re inside our homes. But the truth is that indoor air doesn’t magically become clean. Dust settles, cooking smoke accumulates, outdoor pollution seeps in through gaps, and even our own activities add to pollutants. When the outside air quality is hazardous, what you breathe inside may still be significantly worse than you imagine. The Qubo Q600 makes sense because it gives you a way to take control: you can’t stop the stubble-burning, the vehicle exhaust or the fireworks outside, but you can reduce what you and your family are inhaling inside. Especially now, when the season is at its worst, it pays to be proactive.

My take on the Qubo Q600

First off: yes, it does the job. In my space (fairly normal living room), I saw a drop from PM 2.5 levels over 200 down to somewhere between 50-80 in about an hour and a half on auto mode.

The device uses a four-layer filtration system: a pre-filter, an H13 True HEPA filter, an activated charcoal filter, and a silver nano particle coating, which claims to remove up to 99.9% of harmful particles, dust, smoke and odours.

The smart features also stand out: you can operate it via the Qubo app, adjust fan speeds, set a sleep timer, and there’s the proprietary QSensAI mode, which detects ambient air quality and switches the purifier on or off accordingly. In practice, I found the ‘sleep’ mode genuinely quiet, useful for running overnight without feeling like a wind tunnel.

Design-wise, it’s compact enough to slip into a corner without dominating the room. The filter life is also impressive, up to 9,000 to 15,000 hours depending on usage. The ability in the app to check remaining filter life, track indoor vs outdoor AQI, and even automate routines adds to the sense that you’re getting more than a basic box.

What stood out and what could be better

The Qubo Q600 performs really well for its size. It handles high-pollution conditions effectively, runs quietly even at night in sleep mode, and feels solidly built. The app control adds real convenience: you can adjust fan speed, set timers, or let the QSensAI mode do the work for you. It’s also nice that you can compare indoor and outdoor air quality within the app, which gives a clear sense of how well it’s performing. The long filter life, between 9,000 and 15,000 hours, further adds to its overall value.

As for areas of improvement, the Q600 is mainly designed for medium-sized rooms, but Qubo does offer larger models for bigger spaces, so that’s worth keeping in mind if you have a large living area. While some people might prefer an on-device display, the Qubo app actually makes control easier and more detailed than most purifiers in this range. And like any purifier, filter replacement will depend on how often and how long you run it; that’s just part of regular upkeep. Overall, these aren’t really drawbacks, more like practical points to note when choosing the right size and setup for your home.

Final words

If you’ve just put away the Diwali decorations and are facing another few months of heavy smog, the Qubo Q600 is a smart home investment rather than a luxury. It doesn’t feel like a gimmick: the performance is real, the features are meaningful, and the price sits in a sweet spot. It won’t solve pollution at a city level, but it does improve what you breathe inside your home. And at a time when staying indoors is meant to be the refuge, it’s comforting to know you have some control. If you’re on the lookout for an indoor air purifier under Rs 15,000 that actually holds up in tough conditions, this one deserves a hard look.
