Apple mocks Microsoft’s Blue Screen of Death outage with hilarious new Mac ad

Apple has trolled Microsoft in its new ad that humorously highlights Windows’ notorious “Blue Screen of Death” (BSOD) error. It is named as the “The Underdogs: BSOD (Blue Screen of Death),” the eight-minute film takes a direct jab at the 2024 Windows outage that disrupted millions of systems worldwide following a faulty CrowdStrike update.

The advertisement features a fictional team called The Underdogs, who are preparing for a major tech event called Container Con. While they are preparing their pitch, a competitor attempts to outperform them, resulting in chaos. At mid-presentation, every PC at the event crashes with the dreaded blue screen, causing the audience to panic.

In the meantime, the Underdigs remain calm, knowing that their Mac devices are unaffected. One of the team members, portrayed as a security expert, explains that the outage occurred because Windows gives third-party apps kernel-level access, which Apple does not grant on macOS. “It’s a PC problem,” Sam tells her coworkers. “Your Macs are secure.”

The video concludes with the team turning their misfortune into a victory, drawing attention to their booth as their PC-using competitors struggle to recover. In a light-hearted twist, Sam later helps the rival group get back on track by providing them with a Mac Mini and introducing them to macOS. Apple even mentions AirDrop, making fun of other platforms’ lack of seamless file sharing. The video concludes with the bold statement, “There’s no security like Mac security.”

However, this is not the first time Apple has trolled Microsoft in an advertisement. Under the Get a Mac campaign, the company has taken shots at Microsoft by sharing some witty advertisements.
