Xiaomi 17 India launch timeline, design, specifications and all other details we know

Xiaomi has confirmed that its next flagship lineup, the Xiaomi 17 series, will debut in China later this month. The company has also teased the design of the upcoming handsets, which will succeed last year’s Xiaomi 15 series. Interestingly, Xiaomi is skipping the number “16” altogether, jumping straight to the 17 series. Both devices are set to make their global debut later this year or in early 2025. While there’s no official word on the India launch yet, the hardware is expected to remain identical to the Chinese counterparts. Here’s what we know about the Xiaomi 17.

Xiaomi 17 specifications (Leaked)

According to leaks, the standard Xiaomi 17 could feature a 6.3-inch 1.5K LTPO OLED display with an adaptive refresh rate. The device could come equipped with a massive 7,000mAh battery, which supports 100W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. The handset is also said to carry IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance.

On the camera front, the Xiaomi 17 is tipped to pack a triple 50MP setup, likely tuned in collaboration with Leica, continuing Xiaomi’s premium imaging partnership. Other leaked details include an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner and Android 16-based HyperOS 3 out of the box. The device is expected to succeed the Xiaomi 15, which was launched in India in March this year at Rs 64,999.

Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max model is expected to feature a secondary rear display. Both the Xiaomi 17 and Pro Max are said to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, making them among the first smartphones to launch with Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship SoC.
