Lava Xolo X900 vs. HTC One V vs. Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus

The Indian smartphone market is already awash with a number of brands, including international names such as Samsung and the Indian ones such as Micromax. Lava Mobiles is the latest entrant in the smartphone race, as the company launches India's first ever Intel Inside Android smartphone – Xolo X900. The new Lava Xolo X900 has already received extensive media coverage for being the first Android device to run on Intel's Midfield chipset.

That being said, with a price tag of Rs. 22,000, the new Lava Xolo X900 will be competing with the other mid range smartphones such as HTC's One V and Samsung's Galaxy Ace Plus. We bring you a quick comparison between the latest Lava Xolo X900 and its nearest rivals HTC One V and Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus.

Lava Xolo X900


The Lava Xolo X900 runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system (upgradeable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich). The device features a 4.03-inch touchscreen display with 1024×600 pixels resolution (295 ppi), Near Field Communication (NFC) capabilities, and micro-HDMI. Intel's Atom Z2460 SoC comes with PowerVR SGX540 GPU clocked at 400MHz. Intel's processor is said to be capable of clocking at a speed of 2GHz. The Z2460 processor is based on Intel’s XMM 6260 HSPA radio chipset with Hyper-Threading Technology.

The Xolo X900 also sports an 8MP and a 1.3MP front facing camera. The built-in storage is 16GB, with microSD card support up to 32GB. The handset comes with 1GB of RAM ( 32-bit Dual channel LPDDR2). The Xolo X900 comes with a 1,460 mAh battery, which is rated to deliver back up to eight hours on 3G voice calling, six hours of HD video decoding, or five hours of 3G browsing, and standby time of 14 hours.

HTC created a lot of buzz with its new One series smartphones. HTC has come up with a new flagship smartphone, HTC One X and takes on Apple's iPhone 4S and Samsung's best seller Galaxy S II. Besides, HTC One X, HTC also launched a mid-range smartphone running on the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS – HTC One V.

Besides ICS OS, the HTC One V comes with Sense 3.6 UI, and a 3.6-inch 800x480 pixel display. The HTC One V is powered by a 1GHz single-core Snapdragon S2 CPU, coupled with 512MB of RAM. For shutter bags, the device sports a MP 720p HD autofocus camera with an f/2.0 lens. It's notable that that the HTC One V does not have a front-facing camera.

For connectivity, the device supports 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with hotspot functionality, microUSB, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP. The HTC One V has a 1,500 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus

The Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus was officially launched in India earlier this month. The Galaxy Ace Plus, also dubbed as the successor to the popular Galaxy Ace, is said to have refreshed Samsung's popular mid-range Android offerings.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus S7500 runs on Android v2.3 Gingerbread and is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Scorpion processor, coupled with 512MB of RAM. It bears a 3.65-inch 320x480 pixel display, 3GB of built-in storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD card, and a 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash.

Other features of the Galaxy Ace Plus S7500 include such connectivity options as 3G (HSDPA 7.2Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with DLNA and hotspot functionality, GPRS/EDGE, microUSB, GPS with A-GPS support, and stereo FM radio with RDS. The Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus comes with a 1,300 mAh battery, which is rated to deliver back up to 11 hours on 2G and up to 7 hours 20 minutes on 3G.

As you can see, the HTC One V is the only one to ship with the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. That being said, the Xolo X900 has the best specifications in terms of everything (at least on paper) – better camera, Intel processor and so on. However, the Xolo X900 is priced more than the One V and Ace Plus.
