4Chan taken down via DDoS

You can't hack a hacker--or can you? According to 4Chan's status page, the popular message board behind LOLcasts, Rick Rolling, and some far more questionable activities has been temporarily knocked out of commission via a distributed denial of service attack.

[RELATED_ARTICLE]"Site is down due to DDoS," the site wrote in the early hours of the morning. "We now join the ranks of MasterCard, Visa, PayPal, et al.--an exclusive club!" The comment refers to the recent "Operation: Payback" DDoS attacks that took down three major financial companies after they froze accounts linked to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

4Chan was one of the major rallying points for Operation: Payback's activities. No definitive word on who is behind these new attacks, but this almost certainly means war.
