Sybase 365 announced that it has been selected by Firefly to enable the airline to send mobile flight information to its passengers

Sybase 365, a subsidiary of Sybase, provider of mobile messaging services, announced that it has been selected by Firefly, Malaysia’s first community airline and subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines, to enable the airline to send mobile flight information to its passengers, wherever they are, regardless of country of origin or mobile operator.

“Our partnership with Firefly is another milestone for our growth in the aviation industry and an excellent example of how forward-thinking enterprises are taking advantage of mobile messaging technologies to derive new sources of revenue and increase customer satisfaction,” said Jane Liew, country manager of Sybase 365 Malaysia. “

Firefly’s mobile flight information service is delivered using Sybase 365 Application Manager Platform, designed to handle high volume outgoing SMS traffic, yet flexible and simple for customers to use via a Web interface. Sybase 365 Application Manager also provides Firefly with a cost-effective and efficient channel to communicate with their passengers, dramatically reducing airport waiting times and leading to high customer satisfaction.

“Working with a trusted enterprise partner like Sybase 365 enables Firefly to provide a reliable, hassle-free and efficient means of communication via SMS with our on-the-move passengers in the most convenient and immediate way possible– on their mobile phones,” said Eddy Leong, Managing Director, Firefly. “We are certain our passengers worldwide will benefit from this mobile flight information service.”
