Nintendo, one of the most influential companies in the video gaming industry, is backing out of E3 2013. The Japanese multinational consumer electronics company will not hold a large scale press conference this year.

The news has come in lieu of a financial results briefing in which Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata said: "We decided not to host a large-scale presentation targeted at everyone in the international audience where we announce new information as we did in the past. Instead, at the E3 show this year, we are planning to host a few smaller events that are specifically focused on our software lineup for the U.S. market. There will be one closed event for American distributors, and we will hold another closed hands-on experience event, for mainly the Western gaming media."

Nintendo's move can be seen as a sign of frailty with Sony and Microsoft expected to boast off their new hardware, however Nintendo is the only one of the three to have its new home system on store shelves right now and that is something to watch out for.
