At the PAX Prime panel, Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pichford announced that the studio is working on two new franchises for the Xbox One and PS4.

"A lot of people know that there are new consoles coming," Pitchford stated. "Gearbox is in development on a couple of original things -- new IPs -- that we'll announce later." This is in addition to other new projects the company is currently working on, added Pitchford. During the panel, Pitchford joked, "Should we announce Borderlands 3?"

Gearbox Software announced last year that it has put in a significant amount of work towards Brothers in Arms: Furious 4, revealing plans to "evolve" the game into a new franchise.

During the panel, Gearbox Software also gave new details about the upcoming 2013 Community Day event. This year's event is scheduled for September 14 and will be streamed online, which you can buy via its Twitch channel for $20. If you purchase the "digital bonus pack" for the Community Day event, you will be able to stream the event in high definition. This pass also includes exclusive Borderlands 2 heads and skins along with a free download of Homeworld HD and Homeworld Classic.

Gearbox also announced the latest DLC for Borderlands 2, the $5 Digistruct Peak Challenge which was released yesterday, and a few days later for those on the PlayStation network. Borderlands 2 was launched in September 2012 and has shipped over 7 million copies. A Game of the year version is scheduled for an October release.
